Frustrated wannabe teacher

I don't live in the U.K. but the British government have launched iQTS and iPGCE for those aspiring teachers living abroad.

Except you need to be already working in a school to get onto the course. No help is offered to find a placement. I guess that's normal.

I have tried and tried and applied for placements at schools where I live - even unpaid - but not one has said yet.

I don't see why anyone will give me a teaching role when I am not qualified.

I'm so frustrated. I'd like to crack on, get teaching, get working, get financially independent. But it seems like a dead end.

I'm just needing to vent!

I think you have to appreciate the amount of work that goes into training a new teacher. The PGCE gives you some theory, but the placement teaches you how to teach.
In the UK, schools are paid to take PGCE students and it creates significant work for them and disruption for their class.

I understand that but how likely is it that unqualified teachers will be teaching in schools already?

In the UK - it's very likely.

Outside the UK, I don't know.

What about looking for a TA position?

Is it meant for people who already have a foreign teaching certificate but need the UK one to work in an international school or in preparation for a future move to the UK?

Which country do you live in?
Maybe you could volunteer with an organisation that works with children to show a serious commitment. There are so many options: football coaching, reading with children, babysitting... I did unpaid work experience in schools first but it was only through the generosity of the school that this was possible, as it does take time to look after a volunteer. I was unqualified when I got my first teaching job in London with a private school. It's really important that you show a commitment to working with children, no matter which capacity you work in.
