So very underconfident - it's paralysing me

I'm in the middle of a divorce after a horrible marriage. 4 dcs. We are all depressed and traumatised by what happened.

I worked on and off throughout marriage. Tried to find work that fitted around the dcs. I also did dog walking and got lodgers in.

Now I have found a part time job - it's ok. But I want to apply to be a secondary school teacher. I would like to build a proper career to help take care of me and my dcs so my abusive ex can't hurt us financially. I need to apply for a training placement.

I live abroad. I can study iQTS and PGCE. I have found a course that sounds ideal. I can do it part time and so can earn at my part time job too. There are only three schools here where I live that would fit the criteria.

I just don't dare ask them if they would consider having me on placement. I can't take the knock if they say no thank you. I feel like I'm clinging on to just coping after everything that has happened to us and if I have my hopes for retraining dashed then I don't know how I will stay optimistic.

I don't even know the best way to ask the schools. How to sell myself as a trainee for 2.5 days per week that would not expect a salary.

I would repost in secondary education and ask for specific input from teachers on how to sell yourself, but if the situation is anything like it is in British schools with staff and budgets overstretched why would they not bite your hand off? You are a mature resilient woman with lots to offer. Put together a CV and apply to all three that would meet your needs. Good luck!
