Mature study and retraining
What to study alongside customer service role?
FavouriteDogMug · 23/09/2022 17:29
Due to having a lot of back problems I have got a job about 6 months ago in a wfh call centre. Its not exactly my dream job but the wfh side is great with my mobility issues, and I am coping OK with the actual job although it can be tough when it's busy and customers are difficult.
I would like to stay in this job and do some studies alongside to help me progress and maybe find a slightly better role. Any ideas for good relevant courses? Or even what sort of field to look at? I ideally, want something I can study all from home in my spare time and at my own pace or at least not a challenging pace. I can afford to pay for something but I want to make sure it's a worthwhile and recognised qualfication. Anyone have any suggestions or advice?

The world is your oyster and there are tonnes of worthwhile distance learning courses out there. What are your interests? Do you already have a degree or other qualifications? You need to narrow down your focus somewhat to receive helpful suggestions I think...

If you're interested in staying in customer service, a course in British Sign Language would be useful and transferable

You may find it helpful to browse the National Careers Service website.

Information on countless careers and their required training. And quizzes to help you assess your skills and preferences. Sure to be something you haven’t thought of.
You’re completely correct that whatever you do needs to be a properly recognised qualification.

Does your workplace support any study? Always worth an ask if you're looking at qualifications linked to your current role.
