Is this usual, re apprenticeships?

I've been trying to get out of the minimum wage job cycle and was recommended (on MN) to look into apprenticeships.
I found three that were ideal for me and applied but it's been a few weeks and I've heard nothing from any of them.

One of them was through a training provider and I had a telephone interview which seemed to go well and they said they'd feedback to the employer but tumbleweed since. I followed up with them but still heard nothing.

Is this usual for apprenticeships? I'm assuming that I've been unsuccessful but I'm used to applying for jobs where you at least get a rejection email!

Hope you’ve heard something by now?

Still nothing. One of them has been re advertised so clearly wasn't successful but it would have been nice to have known that!

Ah well.

I can tell you that (years ago) a friend of mine at Bar school made 90 applications for pupillages … And was finally successful.

Are there any other immediate prospects for useful training that you could look into?

I've got an interview! For the one that I want the most! Time to buy a suitable outfit and research what sort of questions they are likely to ask.

That’s great news! Well done!

Centuries ago I used to ask to visit and be shown around an office prior to an interview. Don’t know if that would be appropriate or normal for this apprenticeship?

I’d say your focus should be on thoroughly researching the company / occupation first. Are there any employees on LinkedIn? Any platform with videos, etc, documenting apprentices’ experiences? Find out everything you can about their aims and ethos, what they intend to teach you and what they will expect of you.

Then think about how you can show that you’re ready and able to meet their expectations.

(I fully acknowledge that outfit planning is an easier thing to think about!)
