Nursing degree

Can anyone who is currently doing a nursing degree talk to me about finance?
I'm currently working as a carer and want to do the access course and go onto uni to do a nursing degree but am worried about finances. I work part time currently and need around £1000 a month to add to my husbands wage to cover mortgage, bills etc. We have 3 children, my youngest is not quite two so would probably wait until he is at school to give myself more time to study but wondering how people cope.
Thanks

Not recent experience however I managed to earn a wage using nhs professionals. During the holidays, reading weeks and weeks I was in uni and not on placement I'd do as many shifts as I could that combined with bursary got me through. I'd have to put money on one side for when I was on placement and couldn't fit shifts in. The majority of the other students did this too.

If you used your care experience you should be able to apply for a health care assistant role. Trusts often fund a number of HCAs to train as nurses/nursing associates each year. Might be a route into it while still receiving a wage?

Through student finance and nursing bursary you’ll get at least £10k a year; more, up to about £18k, if he’s on a lowish income-you’ll get full finance if he earns less than £25. On top of that you can work “bank” in holidays, during theory blocks and at weekends.

You’ll get a student loan and bursary - you can calculate your student loan on the gov finance website. You can also access things like childcare grants.

A few bonus shifts as a HCA in summer/reading week should make 1000 a month doable - although for finance and bursaries you won’t be paid monthly you’ll get a lump sum at the start of each semester

Would be interested to know if these responses have aided your thinking, OP.

Don't think they do bursary any more

Bursaries were reintroduced a few years sfo

DS got the 5k bursary last year- you don't pay it back- plus the student funding which you do pay back. Pretty sure the bursary is still offered this year.
