Are Saturated Fats Keto?

I started keto on new years day and so far I've lost 23lb. I love the diet and I feel great. But I've noticed on My Fitness Pal that my saturated fats are nearly 90g a day and that seems like so much. I've just focused on below 25g of carbs a day and getting enough fat but now I'm worried it the saturated fats might end up doing damage?

I had to have my gallbladder removed 4 years after losing a few stone on the keto diet, so yes, you should be aware of this - and the doctors said it was because of this

Well saturated fat is bad for you regardless of what diet you're on. Try and use olive oil, less processed meat etc.

I'm pretty sure they do fit in keto, yes

But one of the reasons I don't want to do it is this

That seems like a really high amount of saturated fat. You can do keto without going that high can't you?

Most dairy products and animal fats/meats are high in saturated fats while most plant oils, oily fish and avocado are the opposite.

So it depends what you eat. Keto is dangerous long term btw as your body can start to breakdown cardiac muscle and have other issues. Be very careful. Humans are made to run on glucose…

The thing you are damaging the most is likely your breast cancer risk. A recently published Lancet oncology paper showed red meat was a higher risk than smoking for breast cancer. https://www.eurekalert.org/news-releases/1117909
In 2023, 28% of the global breast cancer burden (6.8 million years of healthy life lost to disability, illness and early death) was linked to six potentially modifiable risk factors. High red meat consumption had the biggest impact (linked to nearly 11% of all healthy life lost), followed by tobacco use (including second-hand smoke; 8%), high blood sugar (6%), high body mass index (BMI; 4%), and high alcohol use and low physically activity (both 2%).
This is from The Guardian article about it https://www.theguardian.com/society/2026/mar/02/healthy-years-breast-cancer-lifestyle-factors

It is likely your saturated fats come in part from bacon, burgers, steak, … Cut those and switch to healthier fats.

Quarter of healthy years lost to breast cancer are due to lifestyle factors, research finds

Largest study of its kind suggests high red meat consumption has biggest impact, followed by smoking
