Low carb but not Keto

Hi, new to low carb. I have about two stone to lose. I looked up keto and I don’t think I can do that. Would I lose weight if I started off with under 100 grams of carbs a day, and then moved to 75grams? Would I still need to be very strict with calories? After any good foods you recommend for low carbing as well. Would like the odd cheeky sweet treat at the weekend sometimes so anything that is surprisingly low carb? I hate artificial sweeteners though!

I think the thing about keto is that you adapt to using fat for energy so calories are less important though not completely unimportant. You generally feel full a lot though.

I low carb now not keto but I don't have sugar still and don't have weight to lose at all so I don't count calories.

I think if you want to lose weight on lie carb you'd still need to watch calorie levels and sugar isn't a good idea.

For my low carbs, I try to have whole foods for mine, so veg, small amounts of brown rice/whole wheat pasta/whole oats/sweet potato fries but I do it for blood sugar reasons and people react differently to different things. In terms of sugar I stick with small amounts of fruit and team that with healthy fats so apple slices with peanut butter, berries with full fat yoghurt.

I also eat 90% dark chocolate and I don't mind a small amount of stevia type sweeteners so I make cookies with almond flour and dark choc chips. I've noticed that those mini milk ice lollies (organic brand I can't remember) are pretty low carb/sugar.

Something like the type 2 diabetic type diet might work for you as in general that's low carb and designed for weight loss. I roughly follow similar but I've been trying to gain weight not lose it.

You can conduct your own scientific experience and see..obviously someone very obese who used to eat 500g of carbs will lose weight on 100g carbs so it's all relative and the best way is to just do your own data.
