Completely lost my appetite

I started a low carb plan 2 weeks ago tomorrow. I have completely lost my appetite. As an example, this morning I had two eggs scrambled with butter. Mid afternoon I had 3/4 of a burger and a rasher of bacon. I have also had one of those little cheeses you get in a net bag. I have drank quite a bit of water but should I be making myself eat? Just to add, plenty of salad etc was also available, I just didn’t eat any as I wasn’t hungry.

I had a day like today earlier in the week too.

It's one of the key benefits of low carbing - your blood sugar levels are stable (which means your key hormones insulin/grehlin/leptin are in balance), and this is what controls your appetite. Don't eat if you're not hungry. However, you do need to be eating more veg/salad, and not just meat eggs - you need better nutrition.

Thank you. Yes, I’ll definitely make sure I eat veg or salad first and leave the meat to later if I have another day like yesterday.

I have found this to be the greatest relief of low carbing; the quietening of the preoccupation with food which I used to interpret as hunger. In its place is the freedom to make good choices and eat in order to replace energy spent as opposed to satisfy a sensation of hunger owing to wonky blood sugar levels. It has been liberating to recognise that hunger is no more than a sensation in the body and rarely reflects the amount of food required to match the energy I've used.

No, not that I am aware of. Just a normal week although, I didn’t like the taste of my gin last night so it went down the sink! Most odd.

Isn’t it funny that I thought there must be something wrong to have no appetite. Quite the opposite really.

Okay. Do you have a food blender? Throw a load of fruit in there, perhaps some spinach or kale etc. Just force yourself to chug it down it takes 15 seconds. That way you don't have to eat but you're still getting nutrients x
