Low-carb diets

Please critique my typical day

I have quite a lot of weight to lose (3 stone) and it is coming off very slowly. I'd be grateful for your thoughts on my typical low carb day (below). It totals just under 1200 cals (I know we're not supposed to count them but I added them up for interest) and 50g carbs, 80g fat, 85g protein. Do I need to get my carbs lower and how can I do that without missing out on veg? (Obviously the berries could go but I love them.) Any advice gratefully received.

Breakfast- 2 boiled eggs or a 2 egg omelette

Lunch- baked salmon or chicken breast, half a small avocado, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, 1 tsp olive oil

Snack if hungry- 100g full fat Greek yoghurt with a few strawberries or raspberries or a slice of low carb bread with cream cheese

Dinner- something like baked salmon, chicken or handful of prawns, griddled broccoli and courgette (brushed with 1 tsp olive oil)

Drink- unsweetened almond milk in tea, juice of one lime with fizzy water, I try to drink more water during the day but probably not enough.

Seems fine to me and you've acknowledged the fruit. People usually cut it out at the start and add in berries further down the line once you're losing but see how you go. If you aren't losing then cut out the fruit. Likewise for the low carb bread. Remember and drink loads of water.

I'd probably add more fats too.

Your diet looks fine. Personally I would get rid of the low carb bread and add some nuts/seeds.

If you're low carbing, it should be:

high fat/medium protein/low carb

Your fat is around the same as the protein - you should be eating a LOT more fat than you are. Why only a teaspoon of olive oil?!

Also, you're choosing lean protein, and then baking it rather than frying it.

If you up the fat, and really cut the carbs down - ditch the fruit for a start - then you won't be hungry between meals and won't need to snack.
