Help! I don't even know where to start with making some. Assume I blitz some raw florets in a food processor first and then cook it some how?

You can buy bags of it frozen! Or Lakeland do a gadget to make the rice grains. If using a food processor, don’t blitz it too much.

Cook- microwave, or stirfry with lots of seasoning.

Danikm151 · 13/01/2022 16:54

and then puke because it's disgusting!
haha

I've seen people use a chopper, a food processer, a cheese grater.

AlphaAlpha · 13/01/2022 17:01

Tesco and Iceland do frozen bags, 4 portions. No faff.

Sarahlou63 · 13/01/2022 17:05

Grate it or blitz it in a food processor, spread it in a thin layer on a baking tray, season generously with salt and lots of pepper then drizzle with olive oil. Into a hot oven for about 20 minutes until it's slightly charred around the edges (turn it over after 10 mins). Really, really delicious.

WouldIBeATwat · 13/01/2022 17:06

Fry it in butter or put a plate over it and microwave for 3 mins.

There are loads of ways to use it.

FidoRido · 13/01/2022 17:06

I grate it and then usually have it in a stir fry.

Same outcome with less effort frying it!

I've just come across the Hairy Bikers diet recipes and they have a nice fried Cauliflower rice. It's nice if you add lots of flavouring!

willthatbeall · 13/01/2022 18:20

Thanks. I'm having it with chicken curry so I'll hardly be able to taste it! 🤣

Whatever you choose to use as “ rice”, do not buy the Bare naked one. It’s revolting bits of rubbery squishy god knows what🤮

BIWI · 14/01/2022 01:46

I blitz cauliflower florets in the food processor, then stir-fry it with onion and garlic. Sometimes add peas, thinly shredded omelette and soy sauce and sesame oil.

FidoRido · 24/01/2022 17:39

This thread inspired me in the light of an empty fridge today. I just had a pretty nice dinner made entirely from odds and ends in the veg drawer plus an egg. Stir fried the grated cauliflower in sesame oil, added strips of the random sorry-looking veg (green pepper, carrot, white cabbage) and then added an egg beaten with soy sauce. Chilli sauce on top.

Girlintheframe · 25/01/2022 07:57

I always use fresh cauliflower, it has more 'bite' than the stuff in the shops. I blitz it in the processor then fry in olive oil for a couple of minutes, then heat off and lid on and leave for a few mins.
I use it with curry, egg fried rice, chilli, kedgeree, Thai curry etc.

catwomando · 25/01/2022 08:23

We blitz ours (stalk and all) then fry gently in a tablespoon of coconut oil then sprinkle with a bit of dessicated coconut. Delilsh.

BestIsWest · 27/01/2022 16:30

I just buy the frozen ones from Tesco, Morrisons etc. microwave with butter, and a 1/4 tsp of turmeric and ground cardamom if your having it with curry.

ItWasPeculiarButBearable · 27/01/2022 16:37

I just grate it with a cheese grater and launch it in with normal rice (50/50). Bulks it out in a healthy way and gets covered in curry or chilli anyway.

That said - looks like I’m doing it all wrong based on the replies above!

crispinglovershighkick · 27/01/2022 16:47

I chop it with a cleaver (if you rock it as though you're chopping herbs you can get it very fine in no time) and dry fry in a very hot iron pan, takes minutes.

JoeyLin · 17/02/2022 23:03

Hi, I usually make it whilst cooking my main dish, and my quickest way is - grate it directly into the frying pan, and then push to one side. On the other side I put a knob of butter, and turn on heat. I add some Cumin seeds to the butter, let them pop a bit, then mix it all up.
Towards the end I add some chopped Coriander.

I'll be honest though, I've done this and more to spruce up the rice... but after only 2-3 times of having it - I can't stand it. I prefer Asparagus, spinach (melted in garlic and butter) or Brocolli.

SwissCheddars · 02/03/2022 19:04

It up just needs 3 minutes in the microwave in a covered dish.

ThanksItHasPockets · 28/03/2022 20:34

I blitz it in the food processor then make fried rice with garlic, ginger, spring onions, prawns, maybe bacon, egg, a handful of cashews if I have any in.

Yamyam13 · 06/04/2022 20:54

I like to make a spiced cauliflower couscous which beautifully with tagine, kebabs etc.
I cut into florets, pulse in food processor then add to a pan of sautéed chopped onion, garlic, generous pinch of cumin, and sautée gently until cauli couscous is cooked (5-10 mins)
Finish with a big handful of chopped parsley, mint, toasted sliced almonds & pomegranate seeds.
