Hi - as soon as the Easter hold are over I plan to start Keto so am spending the next few days trying to get to grips with the rules and the what I can and cannot eat, portion sizes etc etc. When you first started how did you do it? I am considering signing up for Diet Doctor and paying for the first couple of months to get me into it, does anyone recommend any books/cookbooks, hints, tips, websites? I have a LOT of weight to lose and need something to start fast to give me some confidence and encouragement to carry on.

Any and all advice is very much appreciated

I started keto on 1st February and have lost a stone. I started by joing some keto/low carb groups on Facebook and also read through the first low carb bootcamp thread of the year and all the documents attached and made a list of things I could and couldn't eat. The carb manager or my fitness Pal app is good for recording your carbs (although it doesn't always put the right amount so you need to check). I used these apps for the first couple of weeks and then got used to this way of eating so don't bother with them much now.

The main thing is that you should be getting the vast majority of your carbs from vegetables (try and eat mainly green ones). My meals usually consist of vegetables and a protein fried in olive oil or butter.

Thank you - I will find the thread and have a read of it - I had decided that if I need to pay for a couple of months for something then I'm ok with that to get me in the swing of things but there is so much out there on Keto it's hard to know which to follow

I’d say Diet Doctor is the best resource out there on keto (and other low carb regimes). You’ll find everything you need there.

Diet Doctor is an excellent source for information, meal plans and recipes. It's only £10 per month so I'd say go for it. I'm paying for it right now. I've used the recipes a lot with great success.

Once you pay for the membership, you'll get an access to their facebook group which is really good too.

My 70yr old mum joined diet dr and lost 30kg. She still has a way to go, but that’s a huge achievement and her health will benefit!

Check out Maria Emmerich’s cookbooks and website. Or even you tube videos.

Hey there, so I would recommend this one for inspiration:

bit.ly/3omUpo4

Seems to be finally recipes that actually taste good😂
It is a Keto-diet book with 100+ Keto-recipes. The author only wants you to sell for shipping, so the costs are extremely low and you get recipes that are handmade!
I really enjoy people doing things like this to help people like us! That is why I recommend it.

This one is great to get „used“ to the Keto lifestyle but also provides value to the experienced low carb experts.

Wether it ist with this book or something else, i wish you alle the best for your diet.
