I'm really after some advice. I've being attempting low carb for the last 8 weeks and over that time have yo-yo'd losing and gaining one or two pounds per week but overall losing about 5lb over the 8 weeks. I must be going wrong somewhere.

A typical day is that I don't have breakfast; I never have. I've always eaten in a 16:8 style. So at around lunchtime I'll have some thing like these ham and cheese things. Pic attached. And I walk for 1/2 hour every day.
Dinner will be something such as chicken breast stuffed with cheese and wrapped in prosciutto with asparagus and butter. Then rapsberries and double cream to finish.

I only drink sparkling water. Ever. No alcohol or tea/coffee. I've always done this.

I've tried tracking my carbs and calories to see what I'm doing wrong over the last couple of weeks and on average I'm hitting about 1500 calories and 20-50g carbs a day.
I've just started c25k too but the weight loss was stalling before this.

Any ideas please wise low-carbers?

Overall your nutrition isn’t too bad. We don’t usually eat fruit on low/carb (see the bootcamp)

I think your problem is your calories are to high. You need to eat around 1200 for a deficit.

Ps I eat almost the same way as you & don’t drink & ive lost 17lbs since April. Follow the bootcamp it’s a good start

How tall are you/what bmi

How much do you need to lose?

If you’re already a healthy bmi 5pounds is not bad, I think?

Thanks both. I'm 5'5" and 10st 4lb. Need to lose about half a stone to fit back in my clothes comfortably. I think maybe I am focussing too much on numbers and should be thinking more long term than quick fix. Overall I am enjoying the WOE and like not feeling hungry!
I will try cutting down on the double cream because I think that's where a lot of calories are coming from Blush and also on the berries. It's going in the right direction anyway and as neither of you have said I'm doing anything drastically wrong then I'm happy enough with that. Thank you! Thanks

I would suggest keeping your total carbs to 20g per day or lower, keto level. I would also suggest replacing the chicken breast with fattier cuts of meat. If you use an app such as CarbManager, you will be able to see if you are getting enough fat in your diet, I am guessing from what you wrote above the fat/protein level is out. Don't worry about the double cream and raspberries, berries are fine, preferably blueberries or raspberries but avoid all other fruits. And only eat if you are hungry.

In that case, your slow sustainable weightloss sounds great. It’s much harder to lose weight when you’re not that big to start with Grin

10 or so more weeks and you’re there

Argh, just realised my post above says total carbs when it should have said net carbs. Apologies.

Well you have lost weight, so something is working! Grin

You haven't got a huge amount to lose, so it will be slower than if you were huge.

Exercise is very good for you - and good on you for starting the C25K, it's a brilliant programme - but don't count on it for weight loss. Weight loss is 80-95% diet and only 5-20% exercise.

So it's probably about tweaks for you.

As PP have suggested, try eating fattier cuts of meat (or fish), and make sure you're really eating a high fat diet. In proportions, you should be aiming for high fat, medium protein and low carb.

Your carbs should be coming mainly from vegetables and salads.

You could also try cutting down/out the dairy, as this can sometimes impede weight loss. Give it a try and see what happens.

And drink plenty of water - you should be drinking at least 2.5 litres a day.

Hope that helps!

Oh, and no pic of your ham/cheese thingy so can't comment on that!
