Suitcase-friendly Low Carb Food?

Hi All,

Travelling for work a lot, including air travel. There is not always food available and I often do t get the chance to get breakfast and used (prior to low carving) to take cereal bars, dried fruit, nuts etc) in my suitcase to be able to quickly eat something at the start of the day.

What could I take instead? I don’t want to overcarb again during travel and this is also how I got into the habit of consuming too many carbs. It’s sandwiches and more sandwiches (possibly a few lettuce leaves in a bowl) everywhere.

Any suggestions? This would be really helpful Smile.

A jar of Bovril could be useful, also salted popcorn? Asda's 6 pack of salted popcorn only has 5.7 grams of carbs per bag and is surprisingly tasty.

Pepperami don't actually need to be refrigerated and would easily squeeze into your bag too if you like them.

Just me again.

Linwoods do a range of milled seeds, nuts and berries that are all low carb in resealable bags. Don't know if my link will work though lol.

Hartley's sugar free jellies are another lightweight option, you could mix some of the Linwood in to make them a bit more wholesome?

Packets of pork scratchings? Almond butter? Tins of tuna or Pek?

Thanks all. It just goes to show how I relied on carbs. I’ll be looking out for supermarkets and use the hotel minibar to store provisions.

Not quite coming round to the idea of pork scratchings for breakfast yet.

Be thoughtful of foods containing nuts if you can, OP. I know you’re doing low carb. I have been doing keto for two years now. Some people are so sensitive to nuts that even air-borne particles can cause anaphylaxis. I used to be a flight attendant and it’s one of the most frequently asked questions and one of the things that obviously can’t be policed.
Quest bars or other low-carb, high-protein bars. (Mostly gross, but filling.) Atkins bars if you prefer. (Again with the nuts though.)
You can often buy salads once you’ve been through security as well. (Not all airports, but most.) I often travel with a small jar of unsweetened almond butter in my bag. (In a ziplock bag in case it gets oily.) I eat a couple of teaspoons of that if I’m feeling too lazy (or too cheap) to leave the hotel. With some plain yoghurt or cream and berries. Freeze-dried berries are an awesome snack if you can find them. (They are SOOOOO yummy, but very hard to stop eating. My BIG addiction at the moment and very expensive here in Aus. You have to really think about what a serving of berries is....)
Sunflower seeds with a very light sprinkling of cacao and sea salt are surprisingly amazing too. (Sunflower seeds have a fair bit of sugar of their own, so you don’t need much.) I sprinkle a bit of that onto my yoghurt as well sometimes. Adds crunch a chocolate flavor.
