I know it works . After about 4/5 days of doing it properly I start getting the “you look good” comments. My skin glows, my stomach flattens and I just look better. So why oh why can’t I bloody click and just stick with it. Yes I get bored with not having the crisps and milk choc and bread but I’m also bored of being fat . Got nearly 1.5 stone to lose (am short so it really shows) and it’s getting me down. Can anyone inspire me with their low carb success stories .

I think if you get bored perhaps allow yourself a few carbs. I have cut out chocolate for health reasons as it gives me alheadaches. At the same time for no particular reason actually I just did it I cut out bread, pasta and rice which I do not miss at all. I do miss chocolate so I will have instead a plain biscuit occasionally. The fact I’ve given up the rest seems to make up for it and I’m maintaining the weight. If you stay low carb for a while the aperture changes and you won’t teally want sugary things as you won’t be as hungry.

Hello Needmorewine, have you tried the Diet Doctor website? Run by an extremely tall Swedish hunk! Wink

There is a free trial with lots of good info and genuinely yummy recipes.

I know what you mean, low carb really helps me (vanishing tum and more energy) but I LOVE pasta and rice.... I should perhaps do it a few days a week as all the time is just not realistic for me!

Anyway, hope this helps.

I've done it a couple of times but hate it.

I eat toast with peanut butter for breakfast and low carbs the rest of the day. I'm losing weight well.

Ok my experience is - if I cheat at all it all goes wrong.
The idea is to go cold turkey and then the cravings will really go
I speak as a carb addict. I know what it’s like. I approach it from an addict’s perspective. All or nothing. Short term pain long term gain.
The first week can be hard but I can say that the majority of the time I don’t miss the carbs. Obviously if I have a bad day or I’m tired the cravings come. But you find other foods to replace those lost (I find shredded coconut wonderfully sweet, pecan butter too. After the first two weeks you can have some fruit and a blueberry and full fat Greek yogurt smoothie is a thing of beauty). And you become stronger.
I’ve lost just under a stone since NYE. Like you I don’t have much to lose so this is a good rate of losing for me. And I haven’t cheated so it can be done
Come on the bootcamp thread

I'm not a fan. All the ridiculous language around it - carb addict! We need SOME carbs!! Organic wholemeal bread is delicious and good for you. All the butter and cream you eat is bleurgh too. I agree sugary carbs aren't great but that's the sugar doing it's dastardly work. Wholemeal, high fibre carbs are beneficial.
