I've decided to give LCHF a go, because I'm just always eating and have put on a stone the past few months after working hard to lose 5 stone the previous year. I don't generally eat much meat (not a veggie, but 9 times out of 10 will choose the veggie option and don't make meals at home with meat), but I'm willing to change things up if it's something that makes me feel better (more energetic, less reliant on instant carbs for pick-me-ups, kicking a sugar habit, etc).

I need to do this cheaply and simply. I am finding menu ideas that sound delicious but are complicated with expensive ingredients, often US-centric.

I also don't fully understand the "whys" and the "hows".

Any links or quick explanations would be great. In the meantime I will be perusing this section and am hoping to jump in on the next bootcamp thread if I can figure out how it works!

I can't explain the Hows and whys but I am vegetarian and as a carer have a low income. So from those two points of view I can tell you it's totally doable.

That's good news, Scifi. What kinds of foods do you eat? Are there any good recipe books out there?

This is what we eat on the blood sugar diet, which might be helpful

Meat, fish, eggs, quorn
Nuts, oil, avocado,
Full fat dairy, cheese, Greek yogurt
'Above ground' veg, leafy veg, salad etc
Low fructose fruit that's high in fibre such as berries, apples etc. No tropical or dried fruit

Avoid: pasta, rice, potatoes, grains, sugar (and sugar substitutes like agave or honey)

You really don't need any expensive foods, simple clean ingredients works just as well. Drink lots of water. Try not to snack/graze.
