Hi,

Have started HFLC diet combined with 16:8 intermittent fasting following some precarious ?prediabetic bloods at the GP a couple of weeks ago.

I'm doing well and have lost 1kg so far but worried motivation might wane in future so I wondered if anyone wanted to join me so we can motivate each other?

I have a lot of weight to loose so my journey will be long .....

L x

Hiya, I’ll join you, I’m also HFLC (bsd) and I’ve 9st to lose, been on it since Feb and lost 1.5st to date. I’m also 16:8 too as I often used to forget to eat breakfast so that was an easy decision for me.
Actually not finding it too bad, still enjoying all the full fat stuff and not really overly hungry most days. I’m taking it half a st at a time, I want to go for a hack when I’ve lost 4st as I really miss riding but I’m too heavy at the moment and would also like to feel ok in a swimming costume in the summer so I can take the kids swimmming, thinking of getting a pass for our local outdoor pool so focusing on that.

What are your goals/motivations?

Hi Miracles,

Sounds great. I probably have about the same to loose so that's great. Pleased I'm not the only one to be honest! All my friends are so slim and never struggle with their weight!

My greatest motivation at the moment is to reverse the prediabetes as the thought of diagnosis of Type 2 terrifies me and I'm only
38. But also other long terms health complications that will undoubtedly arise as a result of being massively overweight if I don't do something about it.

Other than that the usual things, feeling comfortable in my clothes and being fitter namely. I used to have atrocious self esteem (as a result of long term emotional abuse) but thanks to a stretch of time with lovely psychologist I'm much better but the weight / appearance thing is probably the one thing that still causes me to be unkind to myself and question things like relationships etc.

At the minute I'm just closing my eyes, getting on with it and hoping the scales go in right direction 😵🤞🏻

We are very similar, in fact I wonder if you have the same name also as I’m a L too lol. All my friends are fairly slim too, a few slightly overweight but nothing as horrific as me! They all do SW but it’s just not something that I felt would work for me, I really don’t believe in all this low fat/no fat business either.

I was probably in the pre diabetic range too, I don’t know as I never went to get tested but I’ve realised since on this Woe I’ve stopped getting up to pee in the night, which started about a year ago.
I’m early thirties so it’s time to sort it out now before I get much older!
Are you exercising too or just diet? I’m doing some weights now and then(prob only once a week at the moment) and a little Zumba from home, I’ve not got the mojo for it at the moment and don’t want to risk injury with anything high impact, I’m noticing I’ve got more energy since low carbing so I’m hoping as I continue and get lighter I will feel more inclined to exercise more! I’m a bit of a gym phobe so am thinking I might hire a rowing machine or something for use at home.

Ha really? That is freaky, although I'm not longer early 30's 😬

I only found out I was prediabetic when I was being tested for other things but I'm grateful I did because I never really considered I might be at risk!

Have you looked at the Low Carb bootcamp threads? They are very active and full of very knowledgeable people

Pressed button too early ...

I've done SW in the past and always loose a couple of stone. Was introduced to the HFLC thing a couple of years ago when I was working with a personal trainer. I find I don't get as hungry nor do I use as many calories and I genuinely like the food so that helps.

As for exercise, when I'm in the zone I love it. But I'm not at the moment. Just been trying to walk more. What tends to happen is I go back to classes or the gym and end up hurting something (probably because it's the equivalent of doing it with a whole other person on your back) and then have to rest and get demotivated again. But determined this time! Watch this space!

I'm about a week into the 16:8 thing and felt hungry the first couple of days but I think that was psychological as usually my first thought when I wake up is good but it's settling down now and I'm definitely not hungry.

My biggest worry is that inevitably life gets in the way - nights out, weekends away, celebrations at work etc and I'll loose my motivation x
