Does low carb just not work for some people?

So I've been low carbing this year since Jan. I don't actually weigh myself (past history of eating disorders) as I would become obsessive. I don't think/feel I've lost much if anything I'm still a size 12ish. I got a tape measure and I've been measuring the past month or so but not much difference. Ketostix show I'm in ketosis (is it possible to be in ketosis and not lose) I have the occasional carb reefeed and go back but now I'm not sure whether to just try low calorie as I feel like a failure.
Any helpful tips?

Check the sugar content of EVERYTHING - there's sugar is done surprising things. If you're eating sugar then you'll be undoing all th other stuff

Dairy can trigger an insulin like response- it's the casein/whey that does it rather than the lactose. The other thing worth mentioning is that if you are eating too much protein it can be broken down into sugars....so maybe you need to adjust your macros.
Dh low carbs and calorie counts - it's his way of controlling his snacking/drinking habit....and he gets quick results this way, he has maybe only 4kilos to lose.

Almonds and Macadamia nuts are better as a snack - but they are so easy to overeat. Measure out a 25g portion or the whole bag will disappear in teh blink of an eye.

Micah please stop posting irresponsibly on this thread. I don't know what you have against the low carb approach but pretending that you know what you're talking about could impact people who genuinely want to give low carbing a try. There are research papers comparing low carb and reduced calorie diets and research papers comparing ISO caloric low carb and high carb diets. All show that low carb diets work. That doesn't meant that it's the right approach for everyone but there is scientific proof as well as anecdotal evidence supporting low carb.

I don't see how micah is being irresponsible. She's argued against the assertion that anecdotes do not equal data, which is important in this post truth world.

Agree with micah.

Your diet looks pretty low in vegetables, OP. Maybe it would help to make your meals vegetable-based with some protein eg fish, chicken, egg, pulses. Vegetables should form the main part of a healthy diet, along with some protein and whole grains (if you don't have insulin resistance issues).

Show me the research that proves it. I've just done yet another trawl of the academic literature and there is nothing I can find that concludes that LCD are more effective for weight loss than any other.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/267688500*
"Compared with participants on LF diets, participants on LC diets experienced a greater reduction in body weight (WMD -2·17 kg; 95% CI -3·36, -0·99)"

"[Low-carb] diets consistently outperform low-fat diets for whatever time period they are compared and frequently show dramatically better results."

http://www.thelancet.com/journals/landia/article/PIIS2213-8587(15)00367-8/abstractt*
"In weight loss trials, low-carbohydrate interventions led to significantly greater weight loss than did low-fat interventions"
