Hi, and trying to get to grips with this before bootcamp starts on 19th.
But I don't eat meat so eat a lot of veg. But it is all coming out so high in carbs there is no way I can stay under 20g for bootcamp.
I had an omelette with mushrooms and spinach, then noticed the spinach was 4g alone!
For lunch I was going to have cauliflower, sprouts and Quorn sausage. The cauliflower is working out at 11g!!
How can I do this? I know people have mentioned a veg cookbook, can't remember the name but Ive ordered it, but need some more ideas too.

Presses send too soon Grin

Everything I set is so tasty and filling.

The whole point of the boot camp is that we don't get too hung up on counting carbs, if we stay away from the banned list we should be fine.

I think any way of eating that stops you eating veg would be a very bad thing and I've seen BIWI who is the fountain of knowledge when it comes to low carbing state the same thing.

Step away from MFP! I do use it, mostly to track my weight loss, measurements and share with friends. It mostly is American based so you have to subtract fibre from the overall count to get the carbs you are after. Ignore counting carbs completely to start with. Use the veg counter as a better guide, you can find it here. On the spreadsheet with lots of other info. Tabs are across the top.

Spinach is perfect,, cauliflower fine, sprouts fine. Like others have said eat tonnes more salad and veg low carbing. Feel free to pop onto the bootcamp threads for any help, suggestions, questions, even if you don't want to bootcamp.

I think the book you are thinking of is by Rose Elliott?

You should never cut out a specific macronutrients.

zombiesheep · 11/01/2015 19:53

Also I love how Sayras post says:

You must not eat fruit, zero, zilch, nada

Like your ears are going to fall off or something, and then..

You may eat some fruit

And then lists a load of berries :o say what :o

You need carbs. Fruit is fine, just not too much. All veg is fine. Brown pasta, brown rice, sweet potatoes, normal potatoes.

Stop over analysing, just eat healthy. No processed, high-sugar and high-fat (at the same time) foods. Everything in moderation.

MrsHerculePoirot · 11/01/2015 20:57

zombiesheep I think you might have misunderstood. We are talking about low carb not no carb?!? You just get your carbs from vegetables as opposed to from refined carbs. I would be interested to know what macronutrients I might be missing out on please?

Apophenia · 11/01/2015 21:10

You're in the wrong place zombie. General weight loss chat is over that way. --->

zombiesheep · 11/01/2015 21:32

I understand, I went completely low carb diet in the summer and I lost 2 stone. However it was just too much.

Completely over analysing your carbs down to counting them in vegetables is a bit extreme.

Macros are your protein fat and carbohydrates. Yes you get plenty of carbs in veg but I just think counting them and monitoring them is a step too far.

MrsHerculePoirot · 11/01/2015 23:09

Oh right, it was just that you said 'You should never cut out a specific macronutrients' so I wondered why you said that when we are still eating protein, fat and carbs?

I think all us low carbers have said you don't need to count carbs, especially in vegetables. Bearing in mind that this is the low carb forum, we don't tend to eat brown rice, potatoes etc... which you said were fine. Of course if that is how you choose to eat, that is fine, but if low carbing then they aren't so I was just trying to clear that up!

SayraT · 12/01/2015 07:45

Zombie, the rules that say no fruit are from the first two week's of bIWIs bootcamp, after the first two weeks you are allowed some fruit.

The bootcamp has been running a long time and has helped many people lose weight, you'd be very welcome to join in if you wanted.

BIWI · 12/01/2015 07:51

I HAVE NEVER SAID THAT YOU SHOULD RESTRICT YOUR CARBS TO LESS THAN 20g PER DAY!

The whole point of Bootcamp is that you don't have to weigh or count anything. The idea is to make it easy to do.

And you absolutely should be eating plenty of veg and salad on a daily basis. If you follow Bootcamp threads, you'll see it's one of the first things I call people on.

And zombiesheep, if you'd read Sayra's post properly, you would have seen that there are two parts to Bootcamp. The first fortnight, where you aren't allowed any fruit, and the remaining 8 weeks where you are.

Bootcamp is a low carb plan. Not a no carb plan. You need the nutrients from carbs like veg and salad, and some fruit. But you don't need the carbs from grains - whether brown or white.

StuntNun · 12/01/2015 13:27

I think 50-100g carbs per day would be more realistic at first. If you're ten pounds or less from goal then you might need to cut down to less than 50g per day but not necessarily. The beauty of Bootcamp is that you don't have to count carbs or calories, just follow the rules and you'll be fine.
