Is low carb ok in pregnancy?

Sorry if that's a silly question. I've been low carbing for a couple of weeks and it's going well. I'm not technically overweight but I am right at the top end of my healthy bmi so would like to lose about 10lb.
Planning to start ttc #2 next month. Last pregnancy I put on loads of weight and it took me the best part of a year to get fighting fit again. Don't want that to happen again.
I'm currently sticking at around 50g carbs per day. Would that be a sensible amount or should I reassess and maybe raise it to something like100-150g whenever I get pregnant again?

Thanks!

For the moment you may as-well stick as you are but reassess more when you get pg dep how you feel. I have read low carb can be better than low fat diet when pg but also have read its common (and experienced myself when pg) to have an overwhelming craving for carbs during pregnancy (some stuff here but a bit rambling paleoleap.com/paleo-guide-to-pregnancy/ ). I am pretty sure I have read that more carbs and less protein are needed in pg but can't find that now.

It might be an idea when pg to have some white rice and potato on hand to satisfy cravings that come up and also pos packets of oat biscuits and that way you might avoid cravings for more unhealthy carbs. I lost weight in my middle pregnancy (about 10lb lighter post baby), I didn't try to eat the nausea away and I avoided chocolate bars, white bread, crumpets (they did the damage in pg no 1!), etc but I didn't really monitor calorie or carbs.

There is some stuff here but a bit technical perfecthealthdiet.com/2011/09/a-paleo-pregnancy-pitfall/ one thing that is mentioned is to be careful around not eating too much protein. There is a podcast here perfecthealthdiet.com/2014/02/podcast-prenatal-postnatal-nutrition/ that may be helpful (not listened to it tbh)

I was determined it keep low darning through pregnancy.....

Then nausea and food aversions kicked in and I spent my entire pregnancy living on mashed potatoes, all McDonalds, chips and cheese on toast!

I was just going to add in lots more veg and swede and sweet potatoes. I really did have the best intentions!

4 stone gain later, I'm back on Atkins.

I'm 5 months pregant and had intended to stick to low carb. I haven't. I've put on a fair fuck ton of weight! So much so that I went to a dietian today who gave me the heavy grain low dairy spiel and I just hate eating that way.

So I'm going to get my portions back in control but also the veggies which have gone out the window. I think If i do that then I can get back to low/medium carb and then proper low carb once breastfeeding is cracking along.

I couldn't eat salad leaves in my first pregnancy but recently read that certain leaves have no nutritional value and are basically a delivery system for pesticides so clearly I was being wise to stick with pasta ;) !
