I'm now about 9 stone, 5'8 and getting told I've lost alot, and to stop -

I am just not hungry anymore, I do avoid everything carbs, will eat some meat occasionally, but I can't eat meals.

I know I need to eat, and I do, but I also know I am loosing weight every week, I just cant bring myself to eat carbs now or sugar etc -

Unless you can make yourself eat a bit more at each "snack" and gradually build it up to include carbs, you need help from a professional. You can't carry on like this.

oopsadaisyme · 13/05/2014 23:52

wholemeal toast an eggs sound good -

I don't really want to loose anymore weight for now, but maybe a bit scared about putting on weight if I start eating carbs again? I don't have an appetite, but I don't want to not eat either -

But you are eating carbs! Confused Hummus has around 8g of carbohydrate per 100g - it's too carby to be allowed on bootcamp.

As Eva said, you are not eating a low carb diet (and absolutely not a 'no carb diet') - you are eating an extremely low calorie diet. You are not getting the vitamins and minerals that you need, and you will end up causing yourself big health problems. Please get some help - you are dangerously into eating disorder territory.

oopsadaisyme · 14/05/2014 00:18

I did say, was eating only meat, fish, some cheese, but now celery and hummus, tomatoes, so not no carb totally, just maybe I should stop hummus?

Thought a healthy alternative to protein only and low carb?

CrabbyBlossomBottom · 14/05/2014 00:45

Why aren't you eating vegetables? Eating so much protein and little else is not healthy. How did you decide on your diet plan?

If you want to maintain your weight now, then you could still eat low carb, but you need to be eating a much wider variety of foods. Your body needs some carbs - not huge amounts, but it needs some to maintain health. Those should come from vegetables and lower carb fruits like berries.

oopsadaisyme · 14/05/2014 01:01

I had to loose weight, and fast, and protein only worked, didn't eat for a while when OH left us, was sick of getting called fat in arguments, now just got to a point where i cant really eat -

Plus have really little money now, trying to keep house, and with debt he's left us in just trying to feed and clothe kids, he taken everything, so diet not an option really, just not buying myself food, keeping us afloat

You seriously need to speak to a professional about your relationship with food and your disordered eating patterns.

It sounds like you've been through the mill and I'm sorry to hear that, but please get some help. You can phone b-eat for advice, they really are superb.

Please don't stop eating hummous because someone's told you it's carby! If you can eat that for now please try and continue it.

Thinking of you

CrabbyBlossomBottom · 14/05/2014 01:21

God no I didn't mean for you to not eat the hummus! I was just pointing out that you are not eating a low carb or low carb diet, you are eating a starvation diet and it's not healthy.

I'm sorry to hear you've been having such a rough time. It's really important that you prioritise your health now, because your kids need you strong and healthy. Can you list out what you've eaten for the last week or so? What vegetables do you like?

wyrdyBird · 14/05/2014 02:25

Hi oops, you've posted about your weight loss before. :(
Your physical and mental health is suffering. It's time to see a GP. Please, phone for an appointment.
He/she might have some suggestions to help you, and to help you revive your appetite.
Take care.

MarshaBrady · 14/05/2014 08:07

What do you usually eat in a typical day, is it lots of protein?

You can increase your vegetable intake for a healthier diet.

Low carb should include loads of veg.

oopsadaisyme · 14/05/2014 08:13

tbh, I don't eat at the moment - Not that I don't want to, just I'm not hungry, and more concentrated on getting the kids healthy meals and cooking for them -

If I'm hungry will have a hot tin of tomatoes or tuna right now -

Somedays nothing, just can't afford tbh, and rather make sure kids have than me -

Why won't you tell us what you are eating each day? What did you eat yesterday for example?

EvaTheOptimist · 14/05/2014 11:06

If you like the sound of the eggs and wholemeal toast, can you make that your lunch today?

I really agree, this is not about money, or even about what foods you "should" or "shouldn't" be eating. An eating disorder is a medical problem and we can no more solve this for you, than we could cure a broken ankle over the internet.

We could sympathise and listen while you had medical treatment for the broken ankle however.

And so we can sympathise and listen if you can take some action to find appropriate help. Either GP or b-eat sound good:

nappyaddict · 14/05/2014 11:11

Have you been to a food bank if you can't afford to buy enough food to feed yourself?

IrianofWay · 16/05/2014 12:17

OK, I got to where you are a few years ago. It was stupid. I'd look at the meal I cooked and simply couldn't face it. That is one of the strengths of low-carb to me - it simply seems to kill appetite. Sadly I had stopped losing weight though as I guess I was eating a lot of lower carbs food in snacks rather than proper low-carb.

I began to eat low-GI food - brown rice, pasta; lentils etc in small quantities. Just eat small 'meals' instead of big ones and build up your appetite that way.

Lucked · 16/05/2014 12:32

Look you are an adult, you understand that to stop losing weight you need to eat meals - at least three a day and introduce more food to your diet. You can't bring yourself to do this even though you KNOW you must in part because of fear of gaining weight. In short you have an eating disorder.

Now your children only have you to care for them and you are in danger. For their sake you must seek professional help.

  1. Some primitive peoples ate only fat/protein and were healthy. There is a lot of research on that. If you eat enough liver, kidneys etc you can get all you need.
  1. 9 stone is pretty low for 5 stone 8 but not that low. BMI 19.1. Even 18.5 BMI is still healthy for your height. Have your periods stopped. If not just carry on as you are. We are too used to fat people these days and start worrying when people are 9 stone which is not that thin.
  1. Go to "reddit ketogains" if you really want to get a bit heavier. Lots of men out there who are bit weedy, eat keto - high fat etc and want to get bulkier.

Unhelpful JaneParker

BIWI · 16/05/2014 19:37

oopsadaisyme - what you are posting is really worrying. You aren't on a low carb diet that is healthy or sustainable.

Can you post for us what you are eating on a typical day, and let us see if we can help you?

Methe · 16/05/2014 19:46

What have you eaten in the last 3 days oops?
