Im following paleo, but also tracking on mft as im interested in the macros and the effect what i eat has on my weight.
Im overweight, by alot, i have pcos.

last week my my first week on paleo, i dropped 8lbs. But ive now lost nothing since sunday.

Im eating about 19-28g of carbs ( from veg) a day, so dont quite understand why its stuck. Should i be eating lower than that?

It's not consistent every week. Also all my life I never lost more than a pound a week whatever I ate (I never tried total starvation) so I would say 8 pounds over 2 weeks is absolutely marvellous. Also your health will be so much better on paleo too. It is very good for PCOS too.

If you want to drop more keep your protein to medium levels not high and up the low carb veg . Try to have more from good fats than from protein. Don't have fruit, cream, milk, cheese, nuts either if you can help it.

ive not been eating those things....

yesterday i had - two boiled eggs and two rashers of back bacon and 5 raspberries

lunch was spinach, cucumber, red pepper, red onion and a whopping 10z burger ( gourmet, 100% angus beef, no fillers or anything)

i wasnt really hungry at all at dinner, but had 100g king prawns, cooked in tinned tomatoes, bit of chilli, olive oil, ton of kale.

The day before was the same, but with no dinner as i just didnt want anything, i had 20 cashews instead and some baked kale

the day before that ( monday) i had scrambled eggs (just eggs and butter) for breakfast, a chicken breast salad for lunch ( spinach, cherry tomatoes, chicken breast) and then steak in garlic butter with kale for dinner.

im 195lbs....

that should have resulted in some sort of loss? or am i way wrong here?

Weight loss will change week to week and some weeks there might not be any loss but the body shape and composition will still change.
Congratulations on your loss! Your meals look good. :)
Food that might stall or reverse weight loss for some people: Dairy, butter included; large portions of meat; bought bacon, some are cured with sugar; bought ham; bought roast chicken (wrong fat, added sugar); nuts.
Food that might aid weight loss: veg, veg and more veg; coconut oil and milk; avocados.

I think that is a way to eat for life and will make you very healthy.
Perhaps give up the cashews and the 5 strawberries.

It sounds like you are eating very well and will lose weight if you carry on l like that. In my view it is better to change how you eat for life and lose weight slowly than have a quick diet and then come off it and put on double what you lost (sadly 90% of dieters have a short diet and then put more weight on which is utterly pointless).

Needsmorecake · 08/05/2014 10:44

Hmmm, im ok with butter and cheese ( though ive had no cheese the last few days) I dont buy brought roast chicken, never would do. Ive not had any ham... but have had bacon ( according theo mpf its sugars are really low)

Im having a thai green curry tonight, so im wondering if the fat from the coconut milk will make a difference. I think maybe im not eating enough fat.

I think most of your initial 8lb loss was probably fluid. It's hard to lose more than 2lbs of body fat a week. However, your fluid levels can fluctuate madly based on exercise levels, carb intake, your period, sometimes water temporarily fills recently emptied fat cells....to name a few. So it's perfectly possible you've lost another 2lbs fat but gained a couple of lbs of water.
Your diary looks good, just keep at it and you will see results.

Needsmorecake · 09/05/2014 07:11

I dropped a pound overnight :)

I know the first week would be fluid, and yes, ive probably lost all that and am now on fat loss which is much slower.
Will be sticking with it, i think its going to take about a year or so.

Needs, are you sure you are getting enough food? There is a popular theory in Paleo that if you have a caloric deficit, your body will hang on to the weight. It's worth a shot upping the fat, definitely.

Needsmorecake · 09/05/2014 17:13

Ive gone back through my macros, my fat is between 70-80g ... which is over my macros for that.
My protein is near perfect.
my carbs were super low, i wonder if they are a bit too low... im going to up them a tiny bit more, to maybe 40g instead of 25

How do you know that your fat is too high? And what is "perfect protein"? Just wondering, as I am tinkering with protein/fat balance myself - been Paleo for nearly 2 years, and all of a sudden I have gained a bit of weight out of the blue!

You should be able to up carbs to 50 g without any problems, that is still very low.

When you feel stable on Paleo and fat adapted, you could try intermittent fasting if the weight still doesn't shift. But that's at least 3 months from now.

Needsmorecake · 10/05/2014 09:24

Ive just been reading a ton on marks daily apple and on a few other sites, so have configured my macros on myfitnesspal.
while i know tracking food isnt paleo at all, im really interested in the science of it all and its helping me eat the right things.

I think i was eating maybe too little, as though my macros were in line, and i wasnt hungry, i had dropped to 1000 cals a day for mon, tue and wed, when last week i was eating a good 400 extra a day. Ive added these back in thur and fri and have now dropped another 2lbs.
:)

without tracking, i wouldnt really have know, picked up on it, or been able to react to it, and would have most likely have falled off the wagon, delcaring it as not working.

So, im super pleased.

That's interesting. (I only track once in a blue moon as I cannot be bothered and it doesn't feel natural but I am sure it works for those who do it).

So are you saying when you went back from 1000 to 1400 calories you lost the weight? That's good. I think I eat loads of calories. Daren't count. All from eggs, fish, sea fish, meat, loads of veg (low carb kinds), olive oil and butter and sometimes coconut oil. I eat nothing else.

Needsmorecake · 10/05/2014 12:15

when i ate more, i lost.
i was still eating ' loads' before, i wasnt hungry at all, and was eating paleo, one of those days i ate a 10z steak cooked in garlic butter...

upped the cals, lost weight.
very interesting.

It's weirs with calories, isn't it? I have seen many examples of calorie restriction leading to weight gain. Personally I wouldn't survive on less 1600 calories, but if go up to the recommended 2000, I get fat. My personal theory is that especially women don't need as many calories on Paleo because it's much denser food.

Needs, you are a perfect example of when calorie counting does make sense on Paleo. I also count every now and again to make sure I am on track. Well, done very pleased for you that it helped!
