Morning Flowers

I know that for some/many of us, this is actually only week 1, but as there were some valiant people who started last week, it is now week 2!

As ever, here's the spreadsheet

Just a reminder that if you're using your phone/the mobile app, you'll need to download the Google Sheets app to access the spreadsheet. And when entering your data, only add your weight and - for fear that @FinallyHere will have a coronary, don't touch anything else!

Good luck everyone.

2lb is still a great loss @RockyRogue1001, I hope you can reconcile your disappointment as the day progresses. And I completely understand - I somehow want my loss each week to be directly proportionate to my struggle!

Thank you, and thanks to @KittenPause too.

Your post really sums up how I feel. I said no to cake and other treats, I was alone in the staffroom with 3 boxes of chocolates including all my favourites and I didn't take one (no one would have known!) I didn't drink on Friday night when I really wanted to.
And I feel that merits more than 2lb, even though I know it doesn't work that way 🤣

Interesting about the 3 months. I tend to be 'on it' during term time and lapse over school holidays. I am toying with keeping on this WOE until Easter and not having Feb half term "off", but we'll see. My waistline definitely needs it, and my scales might stop crying when they see me approaching!

KittenPause · 12/01/2025 11:43

@Baystard talking of cream in coffee I've managed to wean myself off sweetener in my coffee, yay.

I've somehow tricked my brain into thinking a bit of added milk sweetens up the newly added cream

Only 2lbs?

This is what a pound of fat looks like:

I’d be over the moon with 2lb , I find it incredibly hard to shift any now .

Leaving20 · 12/01/2025 13:32

Thanks @BIWI for that reminder, It makes me think there is nothing wrong with half a lb!

TheOnlyMrsW · 12/01/2025 13:34

@AlbertCamusflage I sympathise with the acid reflux, I get it if I eat a lot of bread and also after too much alcohol so lc is definitely helping.
Fab night but definitely aching from the bouncing, and no wine either. Hopefully if I can shift all the weight festival season will be easier too!
Omelette for brunch with avocado, then leftover lamb pie with cauli mash. Making soup for next week with fridge veg and starting it off with the porchetta fat from Christmas day yum 😊

KittenPause · 12/01/2025 14:13

I very rarely get acid reflux but it's only ever after I've eaten too much with alcohol (mainly red wine Wine)

KittenPause · 12/01/2025 14:15

@BIWI

I've got a few of those delightful lumps of fat to shift

RatatatCat · 12/01/2025 14:19

Just checking in, well done on losses everyone.

Weekends always harder - we love a movie night with the kid which usually includes popcorn/sweets or chocolate, but managed to swerve that and sipped on water instead. I also seem to associate my cup of tea before bed with a sweet treat still, so have been swapping for a herbal instead which helps.

Yesterday

B. Chia seed with coconut milk
L. 2 boiled eggs and some chicken breast
D. Cheesy meatballs with fried brussel sprouts

Today

B. Creamy coffee
L. Egg salad with avo
D. Roast - just the chicken thighs and buttery cabbage for me though

Already feeling less bloated and lethargic but will weight in tomorrow!

MrsTerryPratchett · 12/01/2025 14:43

@AlbertCamusflage have you got any links to the acid reflux reading? I get terrible reflux that entirely stops on LCHF (unless I eat 'keto' Frankenfood). I'd be interested.

prettybird · 12/01/2025 14:52

I used to get acid reflux when I wore a dress that was too tight around my rib cage in particular my Nicole Farhi dress that I've not been able to get into anyway for years

I now know to avoid that Grin

AlbertCamusflage · 12/01/2025 15:19

@MrsTerryPratchett Unfortunately I don't have a single source that seems worth linking to. I just read lots of snips and snatches from google results. If I find anything i will link.

BTW I've ordered one of the books mentioned by BIWI, 'The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living: An Expert Guide to Making the Life-Saving Benefits of Carbohydrate Restriction Sustainable and Enjoyable'.

From the sample it looks to have a lot of accessible science in it.

So many books in this area seem to bog themselves down with heuristic devices that are meant to make the science more approachable but which actually make the exposition very clunky and distracting. Anecdotes about the writers own 'journey' of research and (worst of all) horribly extended analogies in which every feature of your digestive system is re-imagined as (eg) a police force directing traffic and issuing parking tickets or whatever.

This book looks to be a little calmer.

MrsTerryPratchett · 12/01/2025 15:25

Thanks @AlbertCamusflage I know what you mean about snippets! Google rabbit holes are my kryptonite!

ReconstructionSite · 12/01/2025 15:26

KOKO here. Seem to be ravenous today so just going with it.

B - egg, asparagus, mushrooms and a couple of pigs in blankets defrosted from the freezer
L- salmon topped with leftover homemade black olive pesto, with roasted courgette and pepper
D - will be pulled pork, probably done 'loaded fries' style with celeriac chips (and guacamole, sour cream and cheese 😁)

A bit too much of a pork-fest really, but will go for less meat tomorrow.

prettybird · 12/01/2025 15:56

To add to the pork-fest, we're giving slow roasted pork belly with crispy crackling tonight Smile It is currently marinating in a fennel seed, peppercorn, thyme and garlic paste. As there is just two of us, there should be plenty left over Grin

venusandmars · 12/01/2025 17:05

Scrambled eggs and smoked salmon for brunch, and tonight is asian style pork mince burgers which I'll have with an asian red cabbage slaw.

It's still bitterly cold here so I've had several huge mugs of herbal tea, and we got out for a walk in a wood that is normally extremely muddy, but which which is currently frozen underfoot making it tricky but passable.

Jengachamp · 12/01/2025 17:49

Had a creamy coffee for breakfast, a bit of ham and cheese for lunch, then a similar walk in a wood where all the mud was frozen. Was good in the country pub after and had sparkling water and pork scratchings. Tonight, I'm doing roast chicken with roasted cauli and cabbage

CleanQueen123 · 12/01/2025 19:22

Bit of a pork fest here today too!

Breakfast: scrambled eggs and bacon with coffee
Lunch: ham, salad, coleslaw and some brie
Dinner: pork and mushroom casserole with celeriac and swede mash.

Almahart · 12/01/2025 20:05

Had the lunch at my friend's today and she had made roast cauliflower and bought lots of nice cheese so it was perfect!

I'm down 5ibs since we started

@FinallyHere please could you add me to the spreadsheet?

FinallyHere · 12/01/2025 20:08

@Almahart sorted

Welcome back.

Almahart · 12/01/2025 20:54

Thanks so much!

Magnolia82 · 12/01/2025 20:58

Evening all. Is anyone here a daily weigh-er? I weigh daily as I find it helpful (I seem to fluctuate a lot for no reason!). If you are a daily weigh-er, what do you choose to be your 'official' weight for the week? Do you take an average of the last week or something else?

I was 2 pounds lower yesterday than today. Who knows what I'll be tomorrow!

I'm not doing the spreadsheet this time. But I use Monday as my 'official' weight. Because it stops me going off piste over the weekend.

But I know people who use the lowest wight that week, or the highest, or Friday or another day. Years have taught me though that knowing Monday is looming helps better weekend choices Grin

SemmaLina · 12/01/2025 21:26

Had a lovely long walk today , but not nearly enough water , but the fresh air and sunshine was so lovely
Roast chicken and lots of veg for dinner , and just had a coffee
And still no wine !

Floralnomad · 13/01/2025 00:36

I weigh on a Monday morning and that’s it , I don’t want to get obsessed with it . I had a salad at lunch today and then tonight we had chicken breast in cheese and ham sauce with roasted carrots and buttered leeks / shredded greens .
