Feel slimmer but not much difference on scales

Hi everyone.

I've been doing LCHF for around 3 weeks. I've lost 2kg which is great as I only have around half a stone to lose. However, I feel slimmer than what the scales are saying. I woke up this morning and my tummy felt so much flatter and I was surprised to see that I hadn't lost more than I had (about .5kg since last week). It's not muscle as I currently have no time to exercise. I do drink a lot of water so don't think it's that either. I'm not tracking my carbs but I know they don't feature in my diet much. I know how I feel at certain weights, if that makes sense, but my body just didn't seem to correlate with what the scales said this morning.

Any ideas what this could mean?

Anyone have any idea?

I have no idea what it means but I'm in a similar position after three months of dieting. I feel so much slimmer – my jeans are getting baggy too – but the scales show a relatively small loss. So I just chucked mine out! I feel and look so much better, so I'm going by that now rather than some arbitrary number on the scales.

I've only lost 22lb since mid November but feel a lot slimmer and I've got about 4st to lose!!

I can have a half stone swing in a day 11st-11.5st so I wouldn't put too much thought on one measurement. Weigh yourself tomorrow.

Also for me, circumference around my belly button is the best metric to record. So I'd suggest trying that! (And that doesn't swing randomly on a given day).

Very smart. Ditch the numbers. How you feel - trimmer, lighter, more energy - is way much more important than what the scales say

Noooooo, getting rid of the scales is a recipe for disaster. Every time I have ever got rid of the scales, I piled the weight on. I did weigh myself this morning and was down about 1lb from yesterday, so that made sense. Will just keep going! I will start measuring my waist though. Thanks everyone.

@Softsoftsleep thank you- it's def much harder to shift it the older you get I feel. I've been very very careful and in the past would have lost more than this

Agreed. Can almost hear my weightloss screeching to a halt! However, when I was younger I counted calories and didnt have all of the amazing health benefits of low carb. I used to smoke and drink black coffee to help tide me over and now I love eating delicious, rich and wholesome food and still lose weight, just not as quickly!

Do you have smart scales on ones that just track weight? Do you take body measurements? Your body composition may have switched from fat to muscle so you are leaner but in weight terms you weigh the same. Smart scales that look at body composition so fat/muscle ratio are worth investing in, I have a Renpho one and it tracks pretty much every useful thing I need to know about my body. If you don’t have one and aren’t able or willing to buy one then 100% start taking your body measurements, if your weight doesn’t change but you feel slimmer it’s 100% likely you’ve shifted from fat to muscle.

I was actually thinking that I need scales that measure more than just weight. I don't see how I could have shifted from fat to muscle when I don't do any exercise though?

Less bloated from carbs then maybe? Could be a mind over matter thing too, you know you’re treating your body better and the ‘healthier foods’ are giving you a mental boost? Could be a few factors but I suppose the best thing is you feel good/better about yourself, which is way more important than what the scales say 👍🏻
