Evening/morning all

So here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for it's penultimate outing

It's been a funny old week Confused! Hopefully most of you have been able to keep going, and keep focused. I have to confess that my own food has been all over the place - largely because I just haven't been hungry

Thankfully I've had two consecutive negative Covid tests, so food/cooking will be back on track from tomorrow.

Because I've been ill, I've rather lost track of who is doing what and how everyone is doing - but I hope that this last week will see everyone finishing up well Flowers

Hello BIWI. I’ve also had almost no appetite and tested negative for COVID until I’d been feeling unwell for five days. Tested positive on Friday. I have lost a pound though. Hope you feel better soon.

Pisseslikeahorse · 07/03/2022 06:33

good morning, I've paused it seems just hoping for a bit of a whoosh some time this week.

been asked by the MIL to source some beer for her big number birthday weekend coming up in May only to realise that I'm quite averse to the thought of drinking any of it. That if this is how I am now how do I maintain in the future when I have a beer or potato or some other carby sugary crap, I know I've still got allot to go but am a bit worried that i'm heading into a yoyo diet of strictness and gluttony

Training course for the next couple of days so loading a salad up to keep me away from the dreaded M&S sandwich tray

Hope you all have some good numbers

BestIsWest · 07/03/2022 07:55

Just marking place. Slow and steady progress.

Baystard · 07/03/2022 08:04

Thanks @BIWI, glad you're feeling a bit better, and Flowers to all those still suffering.

Another 1 lb down this week, which takes me just over the 1 stone mark for the whole of bootcamp, hurrah! More importantly I feel healthier and I'm much less inflamed - things don't hurt so much in the morning!

I thought I'd be closer to 3lb loss today judging by my Friday weight but I'm a bit unexpectedly puffy and bloated this morning and I think maybe hormones causing some water retention.

B-coffee
L-coffee and, if I'm actively hungry, an omelette.
D-eggs, sausages, green beans, then stewed blackcurrants & cream.

SpottyBumPony · 07/03/2022 08:08

Thanks once again for @BIWI organising and everyone's support. Weight loss was good this week 1.5lb off, 19.5lb in total, 7.62% of original bodyweight, I'm down two stone brackets which is nice to see. I ordered some workout and walking clothes in a size 20 and they fitted yahoo.

It's was a crap week elsewhere though. We didn't keep our beautiful puppy, it was chaos and completely broke my DH. I am gutted that I had to give him up, my friends parents who I've known since school have taken him. I know they are lovely and dog experienced but I've been so sad about it, they changed his name Sad. So eating well was a struggle at times, I had a small binge one lunchtime but I held myself to LCHF foods and didn't fall in to carbs.

I had a few glasses of prosecco on Saturday as we had family visiting, my first alcohol since starting BC.

BaconOmelette · 07/03/2022 08:26

Don’t know where last week went, it seems to have whizzed by and I think I’ve missed most of last week’s thread. I’ll head back over for a catch up read as soon as I get 5 minutes.

0.8lbs on for me this morning. Don’t think I’ve done anything particularly terrible this week so I’ll just put it down to fluctuation and hope for a loss next week.

Glad you’re on the mend @BIWI

KOKO all, Smile have a lovely week.

pinknsparkly · 07/03/2022 08:59

Morning all,

Third consecutive identical weigh in for me (start of weeks 6, 7 and 8). This seems to be becoming my pattern. I also had three consecutive identical weigh ins at the start of weeks 3, 4 and 5 before a drop of over 3lb. I wonder if this is my body's "thing", hanging onto the weight for a few weeks to see how serious I am about this WOE, and then giving up and letting it go Grin. Do whooshes continue in this way during the weightloss journey or am I making this up entirely to make myself feel better?

Covid has left our house for now, though I don't feel much more human.... Glad to hear some of you are also on the road to recovery.

Good luck to all in the final week! I'm hoping for a second whoosh to check in with next week, but even if I don't - I've lost just over half a stone which is far better than a gain!!

Wilkolampshade · 07/03/2022 09:22

Thanks for thread @BIWI and great loss @SpottyBumPony.
Only another solitary pound this week but food chaotic and very sedentary week so no surprise there. Anyway, going in the right direction.

BIWI · 07/03/2022 09:24

Sorry to hear about the puppy @SpottyBumPony. What happened?

And yes @pinknsparkly, losing in 'lumps' definitely seems to be a thing Smile

OP posts:
prettybird · 07/03/2022 09:30

Fallen off the wagon for a bit but am dusting myself down and getting back on Smile

pinknsparkly · 07/03/2022 09:51

Thanks @BIWI, that's good to know. I'm not intending to fall off the wagon if I don't see a loss at the end of this week, but knowing that the weightloss will happen if I'm patient makes it much easier to KOKO!

Is there a planned date for the next bootcamp?

HaveGogglesWillTravel · 07/03/2022 09:55

I'm also pleased to hear that losing in lumps is normal. I initially weighed the same today as the last two weeks but moved the scales around different sections of the bathroom floor until I found a reading which said one pound off! Hehe. I do wish I'd measured myself at the start. My waist is definitely distinguishable and I feel like I've lost weight even if the scales are in denial.

Glad to hear folk are recovering from covid. Sorry to hear about the puppy too. You must be heartbroken spottybumpony but great that you've found him a good home.

Hope everyone has a good week. Is this the last one? I'm inspired by a few people (sorry can't remember who) saying they plan to keep this WOE up for a year. I'm also considering making this commitment. Is there a place to keep going?

BIWI · 07/03/2022 10:04

This is the last week @HaveGogglesWillTravel, but we always keep the last thread going (and then start another one) so that there's always support between Bootcamps.

@pinknsparkly not sure yet when the next one will be. Probably some time in May?

OP posts:
Newlease · 07/03/2022 10:07

Fluctuating here for me as well @pinknsparkly yours sound similar to mine. I have been staying on 65kg for three weeks now(on Monday) but was 64.1 on Friday gone. So easy to get disappointed, especially when I was expecting a woosh, I had periods instead, which then holds water and bloating 😢 I remember why I stopped weighing last time I did Keto.
Clothes feels loose but managed to open some moving boxes to get into some old clothes- looks like I have a little more to loose to comfortably getting into few of those, before Easter holidays!
Also my not so nice NSV is periods- only ever appear when I do low carb. Otherwise on mini pills and one of the lucky ones who doesn’t get it at all. So atleast my body acknowledged this woe 😬
Get well soon @BIWI
I didn’t get to catch up with last thread either, had a crazy week. Hoping for a better week this week and trying to persuade hubby to do Low carb with me for few days, which would get me out of not cooking/trying to get away with whats left over( this happens and then I stall)

pinknsparkly · 07/03/2022 10:10

@HaveGogglesWillTravel - I'm exactly the same with the weightloss. I've definitely lost size/mass this bootcamp even if the scales aren't showing it. My jeans are starting to get to the point of being unsafe to wear outside the house without a belt, and my belly is decidedly softer and "squishier" than a couple of weeks ago (I realise this sounds like a bad thing, but it's not - it feels as if there's less fat under the skin than there was a few weeks ago). I wish I'd taken measurements or photos to track in addition to scale weight, but jeans are working in the meantime!

BIWI · 07/03/2022 10:12

@Pisseslikeahorse

been asked by the MIL to source some beer for her big number birthday weekend coming up in May only to realise that I'm quite averse to the thought of drinking any of it. That if this is how I am now how do I maintain in the future when I have a beer or potato or some other carby sugary crap, I know I've still got allot to go but am a bit worried that i'm heading into a yoyo diet of strictness and gluttony

This is the dilemma we all face when we reach maintenance! And I won't lie - I actually think maintaining is harder than losing weight.

One of the things that makes it difficult is that we all have a different level of carbohydrate that we can tolerate. So I can't even say to you 'stick to [x]g carbs per day and you'll be fine' because I don't know what that amount will be.

When you reach your target, this is when you start to experiment, to find out what you can/can't include in your day-to-day diet without weight going back on.

That is, though, very different from allowing occasions where you know it's going to be carby. We're always going to have times when either there's no option other than carbs, or you simply want to eat/drink them! It's how you deal with those occasions that's important. Acknowledge them, enjoy them, but then be aware that you will need to be a bit stricter/more vigilant in the days afterwards. This isn't yoyo dieting though. It's a perfectly normal way to balance out what you're eating.

So - beer, potatoes and other 'sugary crap' may well feature in your life. Just don't expect to be able to consume them in huge quantities, daily, without the weight going back on. Those things are what led to the weight gain in the first place. (Why do you think we talk about men having a beer belly?!)

BIWI · 07/03/2022 10:17

By the way, I referenced the Keto Kitchen book in the chat last week/week before, but it's also definitely worth having a look at Monya Kilian Palmer's website - there are some lovely recipes on there:

1lb more off for me which is 13lbs since 10 Jan. Had made it to the stone earlier in the week but was socialising thurs/Fri/sat so suffered the impact of that (food all on plan but alcohol consumed...).

Well done on reaching the stone @Baystard! 👏

Congrats on your losses @SpottyBumPony and sorry to hear about the puppy Sad. We got one 18 months ago and it was mayhem so I understand why you had to do it Thanks. I'm sure he'll have a lovely life and good to know you'll still be able to see him.

CrystalTits · 07/03/2022 10:32

Morning all. Glad to hear the covid virtual ward is beginning to empty - fingers crossed for a better week.

Slow and steady here. Would love to end this BC with a flourish, but am definitely sticking with it for another couple of months as I want to double my current loss to get to target. Worryingly I think this may warrant some exercise :)

Jezzballs2000 · 07/03/2022 11:37

Glad you are on the mend @BIWI and others, and so sorry to hear about the puppy @SpottyBumPony.

I didn't manage to weigh myself this morning as toddler woke me up with some screams. I will tomorrow though I am not very hopeful. I had a few mishaps last week and have def got more casual about cheeky snacks/ nibbles here and there. I need to get back to my more hardline. I am tempted to try kept six to try and increase my awareness of the state of ketosis and try and stick to it for a while. I don't think I have gone more than 5 days without eating some amount of carbs. Thats said Ive lost weight, feel good in myself and really feel like I've lost the habit of eating pasta and rice with my food and am subbing in lots of veg which feels very positive.

venusandmars · 07/03/2022 13:05

I'm on jury duty this week. Eating a bigger breakfast so I'm not tempted by the cheap sandwiches and crisps on offer.

B - creammy coffee, avocado, boiled egg
L - peperami
D - sausage casserole with roast cauliflower and kale

Good to read some wonderful losses.

LostMyLastHatfulOfWords · 07/03/2022 17:22

Glad that health is returning!
(Sorry about the puppy though.)

In all my long life so far, 've never been asked to do a jury duty.
I only know one person who has.

mirpuppet · 07/03/2022 19:09

@BIWI I love Monya's books and website. Delicious recipes I have tried many. On one thread you mentioned serving size was off for Mediterranean chicken and I agree (1.2 kg of chicken for 6) . It is funny the recipe on the facing page for chicken and broccoli with paprika butter 1 kg feeds 4 people so perfectly feeds my family of 3.

kerkyra · 07/03/2022 20:35

Hi everyone
I was on the bootcamp in autumn and lost a slow and steady 18lbs,taking me to 10 stone 4 and a size 12 up to Christmas. I'm tall at nearly 5'11.
I knew I couldn't follow this way of eating forever really strictly like I had last year but needed a way to maintain and I think I've got it!
I have to really think about what carbs I am craving and do I really want them? By the weekend I'm usually longing for some milk chocolate, usually doritos and a dip and sometimes a waitrose frozen pain au raisin, maybe a slice of cake too. Sometimes I end up bingeing but I have that under control as I know from Monday to Friday I am back on very low carb.
I haven't had pasta for six months! Or rice.Or potato! And last weekend I had some bread for the first time since September and also nann Bread with a curry. Was lovely but I'm happy to just have once a month.
I don't crave them,its more the sugar I crave.
I'm eating fish every other eve,I make two cauliflower cheeses for the week which fills me up,lots of ratatouille, salads, lunch is tuna and mayo/egg and mayo, eggs and bacon, avocado and I have a high tub of whole earth peanut butter I spoon out if I need a snack in the eves and Greek yoghurt.
I honestly love the food and although my weight fluctuates a pound or two,I just realise it is water now and just rain it in the next day.It hasn't been easy,in January I was anxious about how I go forward and how to eat normally but realised this way works and it is normal for me.
Well done everyone.

Andi2020 · 07/03/2022 21:33

Glad to hear most of you over the covid.
I have only been doing this for a year and I am really happy that I have lost almost 3stone so I am at my ideal weight now.
I do have an odd potato now with my Sunday roast as my ds age 13 loves to cook so I have a few.
This WOE works if you stick to the guidance to you get to your target weight.
Good luck in the last week everyone.
