Food for work

Hello you lovely lot.

I’m back in the office today and resisting the temptation to reach for the biscuits (so far), but I could do with some ideas / suggestions for lunch and grazey snacks. (yes I know stopping snacking is best, but I want some bits to hand to swerve off the temptation of chocolate).

Criteria as follows:

  • must be ok to store at ambient temperatures and not require heating up (no access to fridge / microwave etc).
  • no nuts or nut products (company policy due to team member allergies).
  • ideally snacks that can be stored in the desk drawer (to replace the biscuits that used to live there)
  • no strong / unpleasant smells (shared office, only polite)
  • preferably not too much prep in the mornings
  • not humongously expensive

Thanks all 😊

That's a tough one.
Box of vegetables and berries?
Snack a Jack's?
Cubes of cheese and a avacardo (can you take a cooler bag?)
Punkin or sunflower seeds?

My go to is eggs and nuts !

Why don't you get yourself a soft-sided cool box, with an ice-pack that you can freeze each day? Then you can take stuff that needs to be chilled. You could take in salad ingredients, hard-boiled eggs, cooked low carb sausages, cold meats/fish - plenty to choose from!

I've been doing a big box of salad in a cooler bag as BIWI suggests.
Last week it was left over pork from the Sunday joint. Week before it was various combos of goats cheese, boiled egg, tuna.
Plus lettuce, spring onions, cherry tomatoes, radish, celery, avocado and some big dollops of mayo and creme fraiche.
Similar amount of prep as the sandwiches I used to take.
Stuck for snack type things though. Could really do with these for post exercise especially when I haven't had time for a meal before I go out.
Have made some keto cheese stone type things which were nice but not great for thirst.

Paprika or marmite rice cakes. Love them, not dieting.

Those are not low carb though - and you've posted in the Low Carb Bootcamp topic!

Mini BabyBels? The cheese smell is mild, and they can safely stay in the drawer.
Bag of baby carrots/radishes - those cannot live in the drawer, but I bring daily in my bag (and return home if there are any left)

For actual lunches, I often bring a jar of leftovers - LC food tends to be meat-based and good to eat cold (-ish, taken from the fridge in the morning). Otherwise, boiled eggs/chunks of ham/meatballs with salad/avocado/pickles as I feel like. It's not as smelly as tinned fish, which I also bring to work but I have my own office (and a window that opens).
