I was doing so well, following Keto (loosly) since Monday. Lost 3lbs in 3 days ... then last night bloody DH got me a beer out of the fridge and put it in front of me. He knows I’m trying to quit. I couldn’t resist and I opened it. Ended up drinking 4 of the bastards and then went mad eating a packet of crisps and half a box of chocolates.
Well, that’s THAT completely ruined.

I’m so annoyed. I want to join bootcamp on Monday but I can’t survive on 1000 calories a day. I would fail.

Is one of the bootcamp rules that you can only eat 1000 calories a day? I must admit I never joined the official bootcamp but have been low carbing for over 18 months and I didn't think you were required to calorie count, especially to start with?

Anyway OP, the only you have ruined things is if you keep eating carbs and not following the plan! We all have had those moment, chalk it up to experience and go back to the low carbing. Maybe make today the first day, so if you're weighing in weekly weigh in from a week today.

If I ever have a "cheat", I tend to put on at least 4-5lbs, I learnt that this was the effect of eating carbs and wss mostly water weight and if I weny back to normal low carb eating it dropped off the next week. It definitely makes it easier not to cheat as I know for me the numbers going up on the scale really effect my self worth and I beat myself up too much!

Also sorry, my reply DID have paragraphs, but the mumsnet app doesn't seem to like paragraphs so always removes them. Really must remember to post using the website!

It's ok, just continue how you want to today. You can get that gain back.

Don't fixate on the 1000 calorie goal. I think that it is going to be a real challenge for those of us who used to intermittent fasting and this way of eating. As the previous poster said, it's a new day, just start again. Take some time to understand why you said yes to the beer and think of a strategy for the next time. So, join boot camp, don't stress about the 1,000 calories goal. Good luck.

I did the same thing @SquishyBones and totally sympathise Flowers
As everyone has said - dust yourself off and carry on! Try not to let it derail you more. For me, the psychology of it is critical - why did I do that? If you can find an answer or a few possible answers (for me these include having a crap day, feeling extra hungry, pmt, and ironically, feeling like I’m doing well !)
It’s a big change to make - don’t let it being you down!

Firstly, we don't usually count calories (or carbs) on Bootcamp @SquishyBones and @oooompa - but next week is an exception, as it's designed to be a super strict 'kick' back into more focused eating.

Second, you absolutely can survive on 1000 calories a day! If you introduce intermittent fasting, which is the plan, then that leaves you with 500 calories for 2 meals a day, which is very achievable.

PP are right to ask you why you chose to drink the beer/eat the crisps and chocolates - but also I'd ask why your DH gave you a beer, when he knew you were dieting. Why do you think he's trying to sabotage you?

SquishyBones · 24/05/2020 17:23

Because he doesn’t care about my weight ... but I do.

Starting again tomorrow. Been prepping all day.

he may not care, but he needs to respect what you're trying to do!
