Leaving Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp - the prep thread

There's a week to go before we start our 5-week Low Carb Bootcamp.

So it's time to get ready and prepare ourselves - planning is critical to the success of Bootcamp - and hopefully this thread should give you all the info that you'll need.

First, a reminder of the programme.

There are 5 weeks

Week 1 is a super-strict week, where we count our calories as well as our carbs (not a usual approach for Bootcamp)

Weeks 2-3 are the normal first part of Bootcamp

Weeks 4-5 are Bootcamp Light, which is slightly more relaxed.

Bootcamp was devised initially as an easy-to-do programme (mainly because I'm a lazy arse and can't be faffed with counting carbs or calories).

But the times we're in now are exceptional, and I know that lots of us have found it really difficult to keep a focus on our weight and what we're eating, hence the idea of having a super-strict first week. The idea is that the first week will really help us to get our heads back into the right space and, ideally, trigger a satisfying amount of weight loss.

I’ve ended up at about 1100 without trying to keep it low, just by eating what fits with the general low carb plan. It’s still possible to eat enough good stuff at 1000 I think. Today went a bit over when I ate 16 chicken wings for dinner Blush

Can I join please? Have previously had great success on keto but after a while found I couldn't stick to it. I'm about a stone heavier than I was last year and need to do something about it! I've been "dieting" since January and I'm a pound heavier than when I started Blushso think this would give me the kick up the bum I need!

BIWI · 24/05/2020 23:09

@ilovecherries Absolutely don't do the first week if it's going to cause more problems than it will create solutions.

Sorry, I'm being a dunce I think. I've got the app and have the spread sheet, but I am only able to view it and not edit it, can anyone advise? Thank you!

BIWI · 24/05/2020 23:43

Are you looking at the last Bootcamp spreadsheet?

Hello

I’d like to join too please. I need a huge kick.

I’m at my heaviest weight ever. I’ve gained almost 2 stone since Christmas. Mainly be eating slice of toast after toast while stuck in lockdown with a 4 year old, 7 year old and super lean husband. My daily commute involved 4km of walking. We are both working from home full time in pretty stressful jobs while dealing with the children.

The only clothes that fit me are elasticated jogging bottoms. I tried on my ‘fat’ jeans today (saved for really bloated time of the month days). They don’t do up (and I only just finished my period a week ago).

I’m so ashamed ... I started the year about 2 stone overweight and now I’m 4 ... or possibly more as haven’t weighed myself for a week or two.

I feel lethargic, always wanting to sleep, introverted and disgusting. I’m panicking about lockdown ending as nobody will recognise me!

I hope this helps.

@BIWI

Thank you for getting back to me, I seem to be having issues (on phone and tablet) in that it's making me open it in google sheets and not google docs and I can't seem to change it Confused so will give it a go on the laptop tomorrow. If not I will just follow along anyway!

BIWI · 25/05/2020 09:16

@Kaleidoscope93

I think I might have been confusing you - sorry! Blush

The spreadsheet is in Google Sheets; the list of recipes I posted earlier is in Google Docs.

@BIWI

I think I'm just confusing myself Grin I can get into the spreadsheet now and edit cells but I cannot add myself to it - only that first column is just showing as View only. If you (or anyone who is more tech savvy than me) could add me I'd be very grateful!

BIWI · 25/05/2020 09:53

Ah - you need @AthelstaneTheUnready here!

Hi hope everyone is doing ok. I'm trying to combine 18/6 fasting and finding the not eating ok. But I love a coffee (decaf) in the morning but really struggle to drink it black. I've just found Alpro coconut milk in the supermarket - per 100ml 14kcal, fat1.2g, carbs 0. Would a little of this break my fast? Thanks

BIWI · 26/05/2020 17:30

It depends how much of it you're having! According to The Fast 800 Diet people, they say anything under 50 calories won't break your fast.

Helllp. I'm constipated! This never happens to me!

On the upside im 10lbs down in ten days. But I'd like to poop please

BIWI · 02/06/2020 09:13

You need to move over to the week 1 chat thread @Lockdownsnackathon!

When you say constipated, what do you mean? If you just mean that you haven't gone, that's not a problem. Constipation is when you have pain and difficulty when going.

But for now, drink lots (even more) more water, make sure you're eating plenty of fat.

A strong black coffee and high strength vitamin C tablet can help.

And take some exercise. A short, fast run.
