Does the (hi fat) low carb way of eating become less effective?

I’ve tried it in the past - lost 3 stone about five years ago and felt fantastic, but have gradually, over time, put most of it back on. Tried it again at various times over the five years but it was never as easy or effective as the first time.
Is this a ‘thing’?
Does the body just get used to it, and therefore not perform as well subsequent times, is that possible? I’d really appreciate the opinions of a nutritionist or someone who is experienced in this.

It’s a bit like exercise, you know the way the body adapts to the amount of exercise you do, so you have to up it or change it to achieve the same effect?

In my experience yes. 10 years and 2 babies after my first time i have had much less success even with being much stricter. I find now that I lose the first 6lb then plateau, once for 6 weeks! Before I gave up.

I read once that the first time is called the 'golden chance' or something. Off to Google now..

Apparently it's a myth

It's meant to be good for you. A lot of consultants now are recommending this for diabetics!
As it's carbs that turn into sugar and make you gain weight (and obviously raise your blood glucose).

I think as we age it gets harder to lose weight. Doesn’t matter which diet. When I first did LCHF about 3 years ago, it was so easy, the weight fell off. Most of my weight has been regained, and I’m finding it really hard to get started/stick at it for longer than 3 or 4 weeks. I’m pretty sure LCHF is the best way of eating for me personally, I’m just going to need more will power and patience to make it work.
