Well done for sticking with us for four weeks! You are fat-adapted now and getting the full health benefits of this way of eating. Add your weight to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness and let's see how everyone has done. Don't forget that it's typical for weight loss to pause at some point in weeks 3-5 but so long as you are following the rules you are still losing fat!

I know a few of you have been missing meals, whether by accident or design, so I'd like to start talking about intermittent fasting this week if anyone is interested? It's completely optional so don't feel that you should fast if you don't want to. I still think it's worth finding out more about intermittent fasting, how it works, when and why you might want to introduce it, and what it feels like to fast... spoiler alert it doesn't involve feeling hungry!

I have a love/hate relationship with running. But I love rowing and the running keeps me fit for that too.

Totally agree with the weights for women chat. Such a shame my nearest gym is 30 mins away and that just doesn't work for me.

So. Having a rethink today. And I'm not going as far as an egg fast.
No dairy because of 3lb gain.
No cheese, processed lo-dough because of 1lb gain
I've cut Diet Coke back today from about 5 cans to 2 cans for "breakfast"
L: 2 poached eggs with left over hollandaise
D: roast lamb, kale crisps, homemade coleslaw (just cabbage, mayo and fresh coriander. A strange mix but I like it)
Still no wine.

Right. Let's see if that nails if at all!

CheddarGorgeous · 05/02/2020 19:11

@BrassicaBabe that is a totally breakable habit if you want to. Cheering you on 👏

@bibliomania you are right, we are in our prime!Wink

I thought I was fit-ish and active-ish before I did my first personal training session and then I realised that I had zero core strength, dodgy balance and no flexibility, let alone any functional strength or aerobic fitness Blush. It's been a long process to improve and there were months when I dropped activity because of work/kids/life etc. but now I try to be more disciplined.

Rshard · 05/02/2020 20:28

Well done brassica!

Agree that 45/46 is not an advanced age - 46 next week!

HouseTornado · 05/02/2020 20:30

Keeping my fingers crossed for you brassica.

I had the best of results, meal wise tonight, after the Indian food panic - it was closed!

So we went to the pub and I had a delicious burger with cheese and bacon on lettuce leaves, no bun! And water. Hurrah!

16 hour IF tonight as well. You in Rshard?

KondoKonvert · 05/02/2020 20:35

Impressed with all this exercise chat! I'm sure it will motivate me.

Pretty good food day:

B: scrambled eggs with mushrooms and green pepper, all cooked in coconut oil with a creamy coffee

L: cabbage and leek soup with a big drizzle of olive oil through it

D: chicken thigh and chorizo casserole with mushrooms, shallots and broccoli.

Loads of water and green tea.

BrassicaBabe · 05/02/2020 21:08

Winning on the curry/pub front House Smile

Almahart · 05/02/2020 21:27

The evidence about exercise and a healthy later life is stark. I do a bit of yoga and swimming but nothing more challenging. I think I need to up my game.

Had an emergency stand by meal of an M&S prawn curry with some cauli rice. Was on point with the car mb count but ate the whole thing which was waaaay too much

Almahart · 05/02/2020 21:27

*carb count

Rshard · 05/02/2020 21:32

After all your planning housetornado! Still a good outcome tho. Yes, I’m in for IF tomorrow, did today so I’ll have done the minimum of three. Have found it pretty easy and I’ve not been hungry at all.

Think you could have done much worse alma

Doilooklikeatourist · 05/02/2020 21:37

I hate exercise , tried the squat challenge a couples of times , and never got further than 7 days , I’m going to be 60 this year and I’m certainly never going to do 560 in one day
A nice country or coastal walk though is fine
One Diet Coke at a time @BrassicaBabe , I can’t start the day without a black coffee , we all have our habits ..☕️
B scrambled eggs ( again )
L Brie , with lettuce leaves and cucumber
D turkey steak, spicy tomato ( not much ) creamy sauce and roast cauliflower, courgettes , mushrooms and shallots

prettybird · 05/02/2020 21:42

I survived rugby training again tonight Smile One collision though where I hit my nose hard and jarred my teeth. Was puffing at the end though Grin - and my face was covered in mud from mud spattering up and on those occasions that I caught the rugby ball a bit to close to my face.

But I'm pleased that I'm stretching myself! Smile

Made scrambled eggs (with cream) for supper when I got in. Was going to make Boursin omelettes but dh said he'd like scrambled eggs on toast obviously I didn't have the toast Wink

HouseTornado · 06/02/2020 05:26

Nice work, Rshard! I'll do my 3rd on Sat night, but try and do them back to back next week.

I've got day 3 of C25K today, a ton of work (but from home, thankfully), then need to finish the costume I said I'd make for DS for maths day on Friday....it looks shit, this is not my strong point!

Today's food:

No breakfast
L: Cheese omelette and rocket
D: Chicken and mushroom stroganoff

Water etc.

Have a great Thursday.

Mimosa1 · 06/02/2020 06:07

Oh balls. I've scoffed and entire punnet of strawberries - all 275g of it - which is hardly berries in moderation. I really wanted something sweet, I'd have been better off having a few haribo although I suppose it's the same issue if you can't moderate. It came on the heels of a meal on the carbier side too. It's not the end of the world but I'm annoyed with myself as I'm up a lbs today. Never mind, onwards and upwards. I'm flying today for work, fingers crossed I'll be able to stick to HFLC....

I'm in awe of @cheddar 's exercise routine!!! Woohoo.

PinkSubscriber · 06/02/2020 07:01

Morning all. It’s my TOTM and i know it’s probably daft but I’m weighing in every day. Everyday I’m yoyoing by exactly 1 lb. it’s so frustrating. I just want to get down into the 122lb’s (was hoping to by the weekend) as this will be a major goal for me. Probably not been that since I had my last dc and she’s off to secondary school this year!

It’s also my birthday shortly and I’ve already checked out the menu and made an advanced decision rather than deciding on the day.

I must say that I am enjoying this WOE though. Never in my life have I eaten so my veg and in the first week when I lost a whopping 5lb I lost a chin😀.

I’m aiming for a new look by the spring. I’m growing my hair and I’ll be thinner and I want to be more adventurous with my clothes.

BrassicaBabe · 06/02/2020 07:30

Same weight as yesterday. Still 4lb up on this week and 1lb up on while BC Sad

Almahart · 06/02/2020 07:40

2ibs down this morning after no movement for a while which i think was totm related. Yay!

HouseTornado · 06/02/2020 08:18

Brassica wahhhh! I don't know enough about the nuances of LC to offer helpful advice, only that I'm cheeting on your determination.

Rshard · 06/02/2020 08:18

Excellent housetornado! I don’t miss making stuff for school - I was very inadequate!

I like your thinking pinksubscriber, it’s a great idea to make other changes to compliment your weight loss. Have you been looking round at spring/summer clothes?

Hang in there brassica!

Go alma!

HouseTornado · 06/02/2020 08:19

*cheering, I mean. Gah.

Notwatchingtvtoday · 06/02/2020 08:34

Morning all
2lb off over night so KOKO has worked.

5lbs to go to my first goal.

Today
B total Greek yogurt , 1 tsp cream, 1 tsp flax seed mix and 2 frozen raspberry crumbed over the top
L eggs and avocado
D chicken and FLGV

Water water water ...

ShagMeRiggins · 06/02/2020 08:36

Brassica how frustrating for you. Had you taken any measurements in the first week that might give you a boost?

BIWI · 06/02/2020 08:47

@BrassicaBabe best advice I can give you is to stop stressing and stop weighing daily!

Please remember we're in week 4, which is often a week (along with weeks 3 and sometimes 5) where we see no weight loss or even a gain.

If daily weighing is stressing you out so much, then reduce it to weekly weighing.

You know you're eating properly, and also (I hope) you're enjoying your food. How would you be feeling if you were having to count every calorie that passes your lips, or revert to low fat, heavily processed 'sliimming' foods?!

You might also stop the Diet Coke ...

BIWI · 06/02/2020 08:49

There's nothing wrong with daily weighing, by the way, @PinkSubscriber - in fact for many people it's really motivating and keeps them focused and on track. But if you find that seeing an increase is too difficult, then it's not recommended.

Your weight will fluctuate on a daily basis quite naturally, so you should expect to see some days when it goes up.

The other thing that's important to understand is that even if the scales aren't showing anything positive, you will still be losing fat. Honestly!

BrassicaBabe · 06/02/2020 09:31

Gah! @BIWI BC has my wine and my diet coke. Please leave me with my daily weighing! Grin To be fair my weight doesn't seem to fluctuate. If I stick with a plan it's normally reflected in the scales the next day. If I don't the scales go up the next day.

But I am stressing, you are right. I'll have a ponder.

I haven't decided my approach to meals/food today. I know an egg fast works. I've done a few and did manage to knock of the holiday lbs quickly 2 weeks ago with one. But not sure I can face that today. I've had my breakfast can of coke Wink Intending for that to be the first/last. Got water next to me now. Worse case scenario is falling face first into pork scratchings and pepperami. Will go and have a rummage in the freezer....

BrassicaBabe · 06/02/2020 09:34

Oh, and the tape measure is just as bad as the scales! I could hardly do my sports bra up yesterday. (Most of my clothes, bras etc where bought during peak weight loss of Summer '18 Sad)
