Pre-Christmas Bootcamp: final weigh-in and ongoing chat thread

Morning all.

So here, for the final time, is The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I hope that you've all enjoyed it, and have lost the weight that you wanted. Ten weeks doesn't seem very much until you actually start them! But I know that there have been some really good losses so it's great to see it working for you all.

But this isn't the end! (Unless you want it to be, of course). This chat thread will stay up, for everyone to keep posting, supporting and generally wittering on until January, when the lovely @StuntNun will be running the next Bootcamp.

Thank you all - I have very much enjoyed this Bootcamp and getting to 'know' you all Smile

@Rayna37 we seem to be in a pretty similar place, small frame, similar goal, and over the past weeks similar slippage Blush

Looking forward to seeing us both making gradual losses, pound by pound, week by week, and hopefully a double celebration when we reach our target?

My name is Kondo and I've been a carby fucker over Christmas.

I've admitted it and now it's time to get back on it!! Actually, I've felt absolutely rotten after a few carby days...heartburn, indigestion, bloated and constipated. Looking forward to feeling good again.

@ShagMeRiggins you gave up smoking?!

Shock Grin Shock

Well done you. What kicked that off?

Anyone else seen their review of 2019 from nectar? I don't do my main shop in Sainsbury's every week but still, no surprise that my most bought item was a massive box of eggs!

organuary.com/ We're attempting organuary which should be great for this WOE. Also aiming for fish at least twice a week this year. So that's four dinners a week covered for January! It'll certainly add some creativity into the menu.

Yesterday I made fish with walnut romesco sauce (garlic, tomato, walnuts, splash of vinegar, lots of olive oil (about 180ml) it's more like mayonnaise than sauce. I topped the fish with the sauce and grilled it. The hot sauce cooks the fish, but very gently - delicious.

Sounds really good Rayna if you're focussing on improving the quality of your food then maybe consider some fermented foods too, and unpasteurised dairy (cheese or butter).

Rayna37 · 04/01/2020 17:36

Stuntnun I'm clueless with fermented stuff actually so I could make those two projects for Feb and March. Thanks!

@ Rayna37 What is organuary? Are you just eating kidneys and liver etc?

Report
Rayna37 · 04/01/2020 19:06

Absopugging Ha ha no, just twice a week! The website I linked to is worth a look.
I'm cooking peri peri chicken livers tonight and have some oxtail in for a stew later on this week. Likely to try some recipes with liver, kidney, oxtail and bone marrow over the month.

@AthelstaneTheUnready, well, I gave up for three days then caved, but am now on last pack then reverting to caping then easing off that (actively, with a plan) before 13 Jan Bootcamp start.

I hadn’t smoked for years and it was family stress in July that got me going again (the marital separation that still hasn’t happened Hmm plus some teenager antics that are such fun). It was always meant as a short-term thing.

But mostly—six months later—I just don’t enjoy it. My heart and lungs feel heavier again and the taste isn’t all that. No pleasure in it. Don’t need it. Why bother? Halo

Hi all!
Hope everyone's ok and have had a nice time over Christmas? I relaxed what I ate on Christmas eve and Christmas day, a little, and drank loads of water, so despite ovulating again I only gained 2 lbs, which I've subsequently lost again. I was back on a slightly more relaxed wagon from boxing day (a few peanuts, some dark chocolate, small amount of salted popcorn - that sort of thing) and have list another 2lbs!

Good luck with stopping smoking, @ShagMeRiggins

@MeanMrMustardSeed I was bfing during my first bootcamp (2012?) and I echo the advice to do the lite version. I did the full on version and was so carb flu-ey @BIWI actually recommended that I have a tiny amount of plain porridge with water. Shock 😱
(Obviously this might not apply to you, as we're all different, but yeah. 🤪)
Once I was on bootcamp lite, I was fine and neither me nor BabyTwit noticed a change to my supply. 😬

KOKO, drink water and happy new year to everyone!

I keep flip flopping from LCHF to ‘finishing up’ the Xmas treats lying around. 🤦🏼‍♀️
I have packed DH’s work bag up with every sweet thing in the house and have stocked up on LCHF snacks, want a bit of a head start ready for next Monday, I dare to weigh myself because it’s been 10 days of one foot in one camp and one in the other.
Looking forward to waking up tomorrow knowing that I’d had a whole day of LCHF under my belt. Mmm flat tummy!

No, not at all and I don't think the quality of milk changed either.

Course I can, Stunt. Have given up wine early this time, in a bid to make it past the first 4 weeks!

Shag, it is SO encouraging to hear you say that! The bit about the not enjoying it, I mean. When I stopped (in August?) and made such a song and dance about it, it was because I finally - after quitting a number of times - Just Didn't Like Doing It Anymore. If you're feeling that, then chances are sky high you're going to sail through it. Flowers

Brilliant Athelstane thanks a million. I'm reluctantly doing dry January as my DH wanted to do it. Normally I don't mind but I got lots of lovely gin for Christmas. It will still be there on the first of February I suppose.

Shag when I quit smoking I went cold turkey and it was pretty brutal. Cutting down gradually through vaping sounds like a much better idea.

In the end I only managed to get started properly yesterday and for the first time ever (despite hopping on and off this wagon for the best part of five years now), I think I've got carb flu! Stinking headache, all my muscles hurt and I just want to wolf down all DH's leftover homemade sausage rolls. I've had a chunk of chorizo and some brie instead and eaten my lunchtime salad like a good girl, which is bloody difficult when we have a howling gale outside and it's so dark that I had to put the lights on in the kitchen at 1pm to be able to see to make lunch.

Water, water, water...

StuntNun · 07/01/2020 14:55

Get some electrolytes VeryLittleOwl it'll make you feel better. A little salt and a squirt of lemon juice in a glass of water will do fine.

It's galing here too @VeryLittleOwl. I have a sugar craving that doesn't seem to be subsiding. I've had a couple of squares of dark chocolate but it's not helping!
