I was going to join boot camp then fell off wagon in spectacular style Blush I'm scrambling back on but have a couple of Qs:

How much dark chocolate am I allowed?
Is there a balsamic vinegar substitute I can use?

Thank you!

There isn't a direct substitute for balsamic as it's got a LOT of sugar in it, but you can use wine or apple cider vinegars - different taste, but lovely. Dark chocolate - not sure there is a rule as such, but be aware that the lower cocoa ones such as 52 and 70% market as dark chocolate but are actually quite carby, as are flavoured ones. I never eat less than 85, and usually 90 or 100 and only have a square.

The reason balsamic vinegar is so popular is because it's so sweet! Make your dressings with ordinary wine vinegar, which has far fewer (i.e. hardly any) carbs.

In terms of chocolate, it all depends on the carb content, and this does vary hugely.

If you were to choose Sainsbury's Taste the Difference this one , it contains 5 individually wrapped bars, each of which has 4.2g carbs. So not too bad - although clearly not something you should be having every day.

Being individually wrapped bars might help with portion control - lots of people talk about having only one or two squares from a bigger bar, but I always think it must be very tempting to eat more, once the bar is open!

llwww.sainsburys.co.uk/shop/gb/groceries/lindt-excellence-90%25-100g Lindt 90% cocoa ]] is lower in carbs again, at 14g per 100g (which is the size of the whole bar). But it's a very dark taste and might take a bit of getting used to.

Best advice? Don't plan to include chocolate in your diet. Remember, we're trying to break the hold that sweet stuff has over us.

Thanks biwi I've read loads of your advice and it's brilliant. I'll change the vinegar and aim to ditch the chocolate (I've got 85% cocoa).
