Does anyone know what is causing my constant lightheadedness, waking up lightheaded and going sleep lightheaded. Along with this I'm experiencing sweating hands and shaking and weak legs?

Could this be due to glycogen deleption?
How do I recover from this?

Any advice would be deeply appreciated
Thank you

It could be a lack of salt - try drinking some bouillon or stock.

I don't really know though, but hopefully @StuntNun will be along to advise.

@Asd2 what is your diet like at the moment? Have you recently cut carbs or started fasting?

Asd2 · 06/03/2018 11:42

Hello
Thank you so much for posting

As far as I can remember this happened after exercise. I'm not fit enough to fast as I'm to weak so not fasting. Diet has improved, just worried as my head feels really weightless and light

These symptoms could be due to an electrolyte imbalance. Do you also have fatigue and feel very thirsty? If you have a salty drink (such as bouillon, stock, Oxo, or just salt mixed with water) and feel better straight away then it's more likely to be electrolyte imbalance then anything more serious. If you think you might actually be ill then see a doctor to determine whether there is an underlying medical condition, rather than the lightheadedness being diet-related.

If you think it's just electrolytes then try replenishing them. You could try sugar-free Dioralyte or a sugar-free electrolyte drink to rapidly replace sodium and potassium. Or make an electrolyte drink yourself by adding salt and lemon juice to water. Calcium and magnesium are important too, you can get calcium from dairy and magnesium from nuts.

I was going to say electrolyte imbalance too. Also make sure you're not overdoing it the water, certainly no more than what's recommended on the bootcamp threads.

Hi Asd. it really depends on where you are in your diet. i have a friend who was trying to low carb but wasn't quite managing to keep her carbs consistantly low (too much red wine) the result was that she felt dreadful as she was yoyoing in and out of ketosis and was in a constant state of sugar withdrawal as she never quite got low enough to get past that stage. her symptoms were similar to yours. if you think this is a possibility then try being extra strict with your carbs for a few days and see if things change. check what you are eating too, i found that if i ate a lot of so called 'low carb pasta' or basically anything that traditionally is carby but has been processed had this effect on me, basically for the same reason as above. all these products can be very misleading.

Thanks so much for your replies, I think this has something to do with my diet, just can't seem to get rid of it.

Glycogen depletion is what you're aiming for! That means you're burning up excess energy.

List out for us what you've been eating and drinking for the last few days and let's see if we can help identify anything obvious

But I'd agree with the others, that you need to keep your electrolytes up, but especially sodium (salt)
