New Year, New Start Boot Camp - Sign up thread

Wee thread for people wanting to start/do another Boot Camp in the New Year.

It will be starting formally on 8 January with pre-Boot Camp preparatory thread the week before.

In light of BIWI's sabbatical, a few of us have volunteered to run it in her place. She has lent us her Big Stick Xmas Grin to wield as appropriate. I will be starting the Boot Camp off and doing the first couple of weeks and am hoping that others will then step forward to take over from Week 3.

SayrraT has kindly said that she would set up a new Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for it Xmas Smile - so sign up here to say you want to be on it. I have put a few names down that I know are wanting to do the new Boot Camp, just to get the list started. Copy and paste to add your name at the bottom.

I'll be posting them up on the 1st. In the interim if you have a look at the OP in any of the recent Boot Camp threads (last one was called "Pre-Christmas Boot Camp - our Final Weigh-in" ) will have a link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness. One of the tabs in it has the Rules, another a list of veg and fruit by carbs and another tab also has links to various reading resources.

What a responsibility! ShockHmm

When I can get on to the laptop tomorrow, I'll try to go through the posts and pick up any that asked to be added but haven't been yet.

If I miss any, then you can add yourselves to the bottom of the list on the spreadsheet (which @sayrrat is going to produce for us Wink) and it will eventually magically be re-sorted alphabetically. Grin

Not everyone will stay the course in terms of weighing themselves and it's really not important but many will stay and lurk - which is fine.

Best but of advice that someone gave on these threads (and I'm sorry - I always forget who it was) is that your target, whatever it is, might seem a long way away and/or impossible (especially if you plan on an achievable average of 1-2lb/week, which realistically is the most most people will lose after the initial water loss whoosh) but however long that time is, you can choose to get to the end of it and have done something, or you could have done nothing.

Whatever happens, that time will pass, whatever you choose to do.

And I love that last piece of wisdom there Prettybird. That's what really got me going. The time will pass whether I sort myself out or not.

I’m in, but having trouble copying & pasting on my iPad - sorry!

I did bootbcamp for a while a few years ago & loved its. Lost some weight for my hols & then lost my low carb way. I’m really looking forward to starting again 😊

Please can I join you. Just weighed and back to my heaviest weight after losing over 2 st low carbing from April to August. I can't seem to stop when I start on the carbs. I have 8 stone to lose. It's maintaining when I have lost a bit that I find so hard.
I have signed up for counselling with a specialist in weight issues too, to help with this.
Please can someone add me? I'm on a recalcitrant Kindle!

How about smoked salmon and cream cheese roll ups, olives, small cubes of cheese, omelette cut into strips...

@BadlyParkedRangeRover once you get into low carbing, you'll find that your appetite reduces significantly, and you won't be hungry between meals. You may - Shock - even sometimes forget to eat at mealtimes!

However, in the first few days, while you're adjusting, it's important not to let yourself get hungry. So good low carb snacks include:

  • chunks of cheese
  • hard boiled eggs
  • cold, cooked (low carb) sausages (The Black Farmer ones are good)
  • cucumber/celery with cream cheese/pate
  • olives
  • any cooked meat/fish, like ham/smoked salmon (avoid breaded ham or anything with a syrup or sugar glaze)
  • tins or sachets of tuna (if you buy a recipe one, check the carbs - they sometimes add a lot of salt)

If you're near a M&S or a Sainsbury they do pots of sandwich fillers, e.g. egg mayonnaise. I think Tesco might do them as well.

(Veryflummoxed by the way, still wearing my Christmas name). I fell off the last thread,things just got so busy but I continued to low carb up till Christmas Eve and will be back on it after tomorrow.

Hi! Room for another?!
The thought of going low carb scares me slightly (self confessed carb junkie!) but have had friends do either this or the blood sugar diet and all have had good things to say about this way of eating. I think I’m ready for the challenge!

I know this isn't the chat thread but I'm starting tomorrow! Not out for NY as looking after toddler
My 'last meal' has been chilli, rice, tortilla chips, guac and sour cream. Then Yule log. The end bit! with a nice glass of fizz
Breakfast tomorrow will be FF greek yoghurt and double cream. And creamy coffee!
LCHF and dry January! Bring it on!

I have tried before,but have a nasty habit of falling spectacularly off the wagon. I need to lose quite a bit of weight and this way tends to work, so may I please join?
Can I check if cheese is ok, please? Also, would homemade ratatouille be acceptable as a snack or a meal with hard cheese?
