Eating out tips?

I really enjoy going out to eat as I see not a soul all day working from home. Shall we share some tips about the best things to eat is different restaurants?

I find Indian relatively manageable though would love to know the lowest carb options for main courses. I ditch the bread and rice and have an aubergine side dish as my carb-replacement.

Is Chinese possible? I’ve always steered clear.

Salt and pepper ribs from Chinese or prawn based dishes

Eating out always replace the carb with a side if salad or vegetables

Ribs for sure in the Chinese and they always do stir fried veg if you ask. Char sui pork is often served sauceless. You could probably ask for most of the meat sauce less and with veg.

All the chains like Limeyard, Harvester, Byron’s, Bill’s, Nando’s etc will let you sub carby sides for salad or veg and mostly at no extra cost.

Our special treat lunch (not cheap) is japanese - eg some tempura veg followed by sashimi with a couple of hand rolls.

Sunday lunch is another good one as they usually do cauliflower cheese which makes it much easier to skip the roast potatoes.

I wish more places would serve potato alternatives.

Oh, and thanks for the ribs & stir-fried veg recommendations, they sound doable. I love the seaweed, which would make a good starter.

I love Japanese too Errol. Had a sashimi plate on Thu night. Don’t hand rolls have rice in though?

Byron burger allows you to swap the bun for a salad.

Nandos is good to eat out at - bowl of olives to start and then chicken with a side salad and halloumi, yummy!

Most places will be ok with removing or replacing a carby option with extra veg or salad ime.

I just order stuff like ham and eggs and swap the chips for salad. Most places let you do this. Or Sunday Lunch and leave the potatoes / yorkshire. Or chilli and leave the rice.

Most Restaurants here have a lettuce burger and allow substitutions without a problem. But I will most often have 2 starters or just get the salad as they are huge in most places.

But getting veg is a waste of time as it is 1 floret of Cauli or broccoli , 3 baby carrots, spoonful of some green bean.

When in UK like to go for a steak and the open salad bar.

We are having a Turkish kebab takeaway this evening and I am having the meat and salad but no wrap or rice
