low carb vs blood sugar diet

Hey all, it's been a while. I started on the Bootcamp nearly 3 years ago, and stuck religiously to low carbing for a long time, with absolutely no success. It was very disheartening. Anyway, I've since given up low carb, put on another 2.5 stone :O and discovered an undiagnosed thyroid problem, which is now being treated, and was likely to have been a big factor in my failure.
So now I'm ready to give weight loss another go, but am wondering what low carbers think of the blood sugar diet? They seem pretty similar. I know low carb well, and can do it without much effort, but am worried I still won't be able to lose weight. Maybe BSD is worth a try instead. Have any of you found one or the other to be more successful or easier to work with?

Hello lines
If I remember correctly, the blood sugar diet requires quite a lot of calorie counting. I tend to stick to low carb high fat. I know it works for me. I'm glad you got a diagnosis for the thyroid issues and good luck with finding what works for you.

As far as I can remember, the BSD lasts for only 8 weeks, but it's a gruelling 800 calories a day - which I'm sure will make those 8 weeks feel like 8 months! Grin
It's really designed to prevent/reverse diabetes. And you eat low-ish carb (although you can include pulses), and after you've finished Michael Moseley recommends a lower carb diet, so it may suit you well

Thanks @BIWI and @wombattoo. I may ease in gently with low carb and give the BSD a go if it's still proving hard to lose weight.

I did the BSD for 5 days and lost 10lbs (am very overweight and was doing it for the recommended reason). It was hard so I went to low carb afterwards. I intend to do the same in January. A week initial boost to weightloss, have stomach shrinkage, then switch to low carb for longer term.

I was also diagnosed with an underactive thyroid a few months ago which is also why I ultimately failed.

Good luck AntiQuitty

Try the high fat diet gives really good results ( I lost 11lbs in 2 weeks) without the hunger. It's low carb high fat but a bit more extreme. You do it for two weeks at a time, then two weeks maintenance plan then repeat as necessary until you get to goal weight. Worked for me !
