Exercise and weight gain on low carb

I've just started running (well jogging really) again after a long break with injury. I've followed the boot camp WOE for a while now and feel pretty good on it though with only about a stone to lose weight loss is incredibly slow and I've been stuck for a while. I've only run a few times but the day after I always feel very bloated and heavy and seem to have put on a few pounds without changing what I'm eating.
Does anyone have any idea why this could be? DH says I need to eat more carbs to exercise properly it I really don't want to but is the low carbing working against me on this? Any advice from long term low carber/runners would be much appreciated thank you.

Hopefully one of the runners will be along shortly but I'm told that once you are fully fat adapted you don't need carbs to exercise. It can be a bit difficult at first as some people take a few weeks to really adapt to using fat as fuel but once you are there I'm told energy levels and stamina soar.

I do weights and I always find an increase in weight the day after my workout. On LC you get very big swings in fluid balance that can send the scales a bit crazy. If you add to this the tendency of recovering muscles to hold fluid you will find you have to put a lot less emphasis on what the scale says and rely more on the fact that you are changing shape along with other health indicators.

I'm told that the Art of Low Carb Performance book by Phinney and Volek is a useful resource.

miffy has it absolutely spot on. You do not need carbs to exercise - and, like her, I can highly recommend that book.

If you're feeling heavy and bloated, are you drinking enough water?

Thank you Miffy and BIWI, I have been eating this way for a couple of years now and although I slip up now and again I think my body's pretty adapted. I don't find my energy or stamina to be particularly great but neither are they awful so I think it's just my general level of fitness. I did wonder if it was just the shock of doing something physical making me hold a bit of water so it's reassuring that you mention that too. I don't want to stop again but neither do I want to be any heavier.
BIWI I do try and drink water but, no, I don't drink enough actual water though I do drink buckets of tea.

Well you need to focus on drinking more!
