Does anyone have any tips for eating out in France while trying to eat low carb?

TheAwfulDaughter - Thanks. Steak frites with a side of salad instead of frites isn't half bad is it? And I will be able to eat moules and terrines. And a plate of cheese in place of pudding.

Does anyone know about the carb count in various types of coffee? I suppose I could take a small flask containing double cream? And then just ask for double espresso and a jug of hot water and a large cup and saucer? To make a grand creme sort of thing without any milk. ?? Or does anyone have any better ideas?

The French aren't big on veg, to be honest! So it should be pretty easy. You could always ask for a salad instead of veg, assuming that your French is up to it?

And think of all that lovely cheese!

With regard to coffee, you could have a coffee au lait, as long as you're not having many during the day.

I found France a dream when I low carbed a few years ago. Steak, moules, cheese, creamy sauces with the meat... Even crêperies and pizzerias have something lovely you can have (usually massive salads - gizzards optional).

Avoiding temptation was the tricky bit.

'Un café crème' should get you a nice coffee with cream

Agree that salads are everywhere, often laden with gorgeous fatty stuff, and cheese in place of pudding completely standard.

Personally think France is more bootcamp friendly than the UK. The French women I know all tend towards the cut-down-the-bread-and-potatoes school of thought if/when they need to shift a few pounds.
