going back to maiden name and titles. Miss or Ms?

I'm in the middle of divorce, and would love to go back to my maiden name. Does anyone know if I have to do a deed poll, like the dead poll website states, or if the decree absolute will be enough for the banks etc?
Also if I deed poll, do I have to choose whether I become Miss or Ms,and what are the significances of these 2 titles??
Thanks

I changed mine back as soon as we separated. I'm not sure whether the decree absolute would be enough to change your driving licence and passport, check out the direct.gov.uk site for the rules on ID.

I'm usually Ms, partly because I have children, but will happily be Miss where Ms isn't an option.

I'd go for Ms, Miss signifies unmarried and very young (to me) while Ms = adult and does not give away your marital status. Although there do seem to be a few idiots ill-informed people who mistakenly believe Ms = divorced.

Deed poll website is just trying to drum up business - the law in this country is that you can call yourself whatever you like as long as you aren't trying to deceive.

i use Ms also now divorced you will need to change your name by deed poll for all offical documents passport drining lic, benefits and bank accounts etc they wont change them without, but you can call your self by any name you like for day to day stuff.

I also use MS and am currently going through divorce proceedings but TBH never changed my surname in the first place.

Maybe that was a sign of things to come

Thanks for that. I just want to do it the easiest way but not to get stuck legally.
Ms sounds a bit odd, but going back to Miss X when I have been Mrs Y for so long feels weird too!
It is only £40 or so according to the website, so not too much I guess. As I am claiming to costs of my divorce against my adulterous liar soon to be XH I would love to charge that to him too but I know what the response would be

You don't need the deed poll. You can send a copy of your birth cert and decree absolute for passport and driving licence. Other places will just accept your word over the phone.

Just had a look on the passport website, and it costs nearly £80 to change your name on a passport, but you don't need to do the deed poll, as long as you have the decree absolute and a birth certificate, so I will just have to wait a bit longer!

Thank you!
I think I will wait until the documents come through from court, hopefully not too long now. No need to spend money if I don't have to is there.
