I WAS WONDERING

I always find something to stress about it's just how I am. Well I have no clue about politics don't normally take interest. Anyway I am a single mum and at the moment I am not working. I worked before my daughter but didn't after I had her as I wanted to be the one to look after her and not dump her. My daughter just started nursery and plan was to go back to uni and finish my teachers training. though not planned I fell preg same dad but a whole other story and I am now 23. Wasn't happy at first over being preg but wouldn't change it for the world.

Anyway I will get to the point. I was reading on facebook last night on my phone and the elections are may 6th. Apparently if conservatives win then they are going to abolish any benefits and tax credits. Surely they can't do that can they??? they said on this group on facebook it will go back to how it was in the 80s and only the rich will flourish. single mums will have to count on food vouchers and charities if clothes are needed. surely this can't happen can it? I am stressing. I been looking in the paper for a job in nursery hours. but who is going to employ me nearly 20 weeks pregnant. who is going to look after my daughter if she is ill and nursery holidays and there is nothing going in school holidays. how am I going to give birth if I got to work, who is going to look after my newborn. I am not lazy or a scrounger and as soon as baby gets older will go finish my training and make a good life for me and my 2 kids. but I am imagining poverty having nothing, do i make any sense... I do think they need to shake up benefits system and there are some people who abuse it but surely they couldn't go that far.

oh and election day is may 6th the day my 20th scan I feel a whole cloud as been put over the day

am I being too hormonal over this???

due sept 18th xxxx

if conservatives have a huge majority they can do virtually anything they like - but as they unlkely to have a huge majority govt then it will be more difficult for them - if they win - to do this kind of thing overnight. changes to tax/benefits will be debated first.

look at your constituency and use your vote wisely.

but do vote.

Hodie · 29/04/2010 11:38

Try not to worry about it, and make sure you don't vote for the Tories. If the Tories do get into power, any kind of reform will not take place over night. This will give you time to think about what to do next.

In the meantime, try to think of something else by keeping busy. I'm off to clear up my back yard before the baby comes along on 6 September. Good luck.

FGS, the conservatives are not going to abolish tax credits and benefits.

I fucking hate facebook, stupid scaremongering shite. There will be some changes, none of which will mean single parents relying on food vouchers and rich people flourishing.

?? Do you really believe that everything on Facebook is real?

Of course people lie! They lie all the chuffing time, in real life, on the internet.... ESPECIALLY on the internet!

It's about shock value and misleading people.
What about all the facebook groups advocating that only immigrants are entitled to LA housing, or the groups insisting that the vocanic ash cloud is a conspiracy to con us all out of cash??

Why don't you try looking at real policies if you want a clearer picture, look in the politics section on here, start a thread asking the question etc.

itsmeitsmeolord · 29/04/2010 12:13

Sorry, I'm not telling you off. Just a bit shocked that you would take anything on facebook at face value as it were.

Best of luck with Uni. I did it as a single parent with a baby daughter as well, it's hard but so very worth it.

mummylou85 · 29/04/2010 12:19

it is hard but I hate it on facebook when they think all single mums are the same and have kid after kid. and drink and smoke. I don't drink, I don't smoke and every penny goes on my 4 year old and this baby when it arrives. I am just very niave I think I worry too much. I am 23 and I want to qualify and get a tidy job. thank you lol but as you say it is hard with little ones too look after but more of a reason to do it and show them the values of money xxx
