There are jobs for lunchtime play leaders at the school at the end of my road.

It is only 6 hours 40 mins per week so well bewlow the 16 hours needed to come off IS and get wtc.

However, my confidence is severely low at the moment, and I think it could give me a well needed boost and something to do every day.

If the job centre are going to hassle me though then there isn't much point is there ? I have to switch to JSA in Oct so would they make me give up then ?

I work less than 16 hours a week but am not/haven't been on benefits so it's a bit different. I hadn't done paid work for a few years so I view it as a confidence-booster & way of updating my CV until I change to something with longer hours. Isn't there an old saying that it's easier to get a job if you already have a job?

Lunchtime supervisors are in huge demand where I live and you never know it could lead to more hours eventually (eg preparing the lunches or as a TA) once you get your foot in the door if you were interested...

Yes that is exactly what I was thinking.

I know that at the school my dc go to, they offered nvq training to the dinner staff eventually.

Also, as you said, it would make my c.v look alot better, as I haven't worked for 4 years.

I know i'd not be any better off financially, but I am not bothered about that at the moment.

It sounds a gentle way to get into a work routine, in an environment you may well enjoy. Perhaps there will be other opportunities come along to dovetail and bump it up to over 16 hours in all in time, after all that would only need to be on average another 2 per day.

Good point, hadn't thought of that.

Going to ring about it tomorrow, and then I can pop in and get a form.
