Lone Parent Holidaying

Not sure whether I should have posted this here or in the travel section, thought I would start with here as the key is 'lone parents'

I want to start thinking / planning for holidaying in 2010 with DD who will be around 14 months at the time I want to go (June). Can anyone recommend good organisations that deal specifically with lone parents or has anyone organised there own holidays with other lone parents I'd would like to travel abroad but the UK is an option too.

Single Parent Travel Club is a great non profit making organisation. It's just £10 to join and you can advertise for like minded parents to holiday with home and abroad.

I'm organising a fair few holiday's next year...Florida - Easter (the villa is full but anyone can join us whilst we are there. There is also a trip to Eypgt at Easter with a number of teenage children ....

Other trips are :

Norfolk Coast - May Day weekend
National Forest YHA - Whitsun
French Gite - Whitsun
Majorca - August
Robin Hoods Bay - August
Peak District - August Bank Holiday
Black Forest Germany - New Year 2010/11 (fully booked - waiting list now)

Plus there are a couple of trips to Centre Parcs, and camping trip planned for summer holiday's.

But you can just advertise your own holiday too.

It's worth looking at....because all you pay is the actual cost of the holiday.

Thanks Lottysmum, sounds like you have a pretty full agenda, will go take a look.. Shame about the New Year 2010 / 11 being booked already.. I most definitely will be looking for something next year..

There are about 300 members of the SPTC, some members are active in arranging holiday's (like myself), others just like to join arranged events by other members.

So...if you want to go on holiday to Spain in the summer, you just place a note on the forum just saying where you are looking to go, what sort of holiday (hotel hb self catering etc) age of children and ask if anyone would like to join you...then you can start liaising together to find your ideal holiday.... and book at the same time.

Children tend to mix together and the adults mix together too.

There is an AGM in May where lots of members stay at YHA and it's worthwhile attending because this way you get to meet lots of members...

You are also provided with a list of members in your area...so you can get in contact with each other for local events.
