If you had not seen your son for 12 months and flew over for a few days to catch up, am I being unreasonable to think that the first person you would see is your child?

or would you go and spend a few days at your sisters first and see your poor child when you can fit him in? Also, why would said 'parent' ask to have the child overnight at grandparents house without asking or contacting the grandparents first? Am I being unreasonable in thinking this is pathetic? This is not right no? Please help me to understand this fool's thinking as I don't have a clue.

TIA Sorry for yet another moan about ds's shite family.

I agree about the sister thing but surely a grandparent would be delighted to see their grandchild ? I wouldn't dream of asking my mum, there's absolutely no question my girls (and I) are welcome any time....

You can't change his behaviour, you can only change how you react to it Fluffy, and while he'll be totally oblivious or unconcerned about your anger, it will eat you up inside. Expect the very worst from him and anything better than that is a bonus and you'll feel better. Sad to have to do that, but the best way of coping with it.

That's OK.

Grandad's disabled, so's his wife. He can't manage more then one hour with ds because he gets so tired and in so much pain, I'd never consider asking either of them to babysit. It's not fair on them. We saw grandad today for lunch, I've always wanted ds to know all his family.

Thanks
