Have you tried access courses at your local Uni/college?

Tidgypuds · 27/01/2009 23:30

Have you tried Training 2000?
Sounds like you are doing a fab job as a role model for your daughter without working in an office.

thank you scrooged,
i have looked up access course and its full time for 1 year... i will call them to check but, i do need to work to pay bills and not sure if it would benefit me to leave work and go into full time employment as i have debts to pay.
I have there number so will check on it , thank you!

It is possible to work from home in the evenings/weekends ironing etc, as long as you do more than 16 hours you can claim tax credits (register as self employed). I now design t-shirts and hand decorate them.

workign in an office is a very broad job description. have you figured out what the office would be doing?

if so you could maybe contact an employer within that field and ask if you could maybe do voluntary work with them a few hours a week.
you could use it as informal training and experience.

not only would you learn the job but it will also look good on your Cv that you werw willing to do unpaid work in order to better yourself and further your career.

Thankyou all this has give me something to work on!
To be honest mamozon, i dont know what i want to do for a change in career and also not sure if i would actually enjoy it , soo volenteering would be really beneficial i think.
If i write to employers in certain fields, how do i go about explaing situation with no experience and my goals? it is kinda a strange as have not done this before. another words how do i explain myself well to them.
Really appreciate all your feedback peeps

tell them what you have told us.
that yoru a hard working mum who wants the very best for her child and is willing to work her arse off...for nothing if needed, to make a better life for you btoh.

who couldn't be impressed by that.

I was going to suggest trying learn direct again, new courses and funding may come up, so perhaps try them again in a while.

Also think volunteering is another idea, try a local volunterr place or this website and see what there is, many small charities need help with admin and this might give you a chance to get some experience.

Trying this route myself at the moment but got talked into a position thats not quite right it more to do with manning a stall at events, but I need to get an office type thing to to give me the admin experience I lack. So due to go back in soon.

Sorry this website.

have you thought og getting "office" work experience in a charity? They will be happy to have 2 helping hands join them, it'll be a desk job and flexi hours. Maybe find a cause that is close to your heart and ask them. Another option would be to get work experience at your dd's school. Remember: just be honest and be yourself. It sounds like your dd definitely has a mum to be proud of so don't feel bad. There's a gazillion more interesting jobs out there than just sitting in an office
