Or wait until he's totally out, and move him, he's only a few months, so a good chance you'd get away with it as he'll be shattered after screaming

MrsMacaroon · 08/07/2008 00:53

How old is he? in this situation we always went straight for the Shrek DVD, in our bed, DD in the middle with milk to drink, us snoring either side.

colditz · 08/07/2008 00:54

Try earplugds?

some advice that hopefully won't make you want to stove my head in with the pram

Check nappy
Give a feed
offer some water if bottlefed (it's been hot)
Drape him over your shoulder and rub and joggle quite vigourously
take some clothes off
wrap him up warmer
play peepo
put some reasonably loud music on
plonk in front of tv
whirl him round making whooshy noises.
sit with him on your knees facing you, and joggle for side to side at walking pace.
put the washer on spin
dummy?

i only have one bedroom which we share.would it be neglectful of me to leave him upstairs and me try and sleep on the sofa.or him downstairs in his pushchair and me upstairs.is that not on?

agree with Starlight.
(trouble is avenanap so few people have prams you can really lie down and sleep in nowadays I'm not sure what advice would be about leaving lo downstairs in maclaren to sleep overnigh not sure I'd do it- also whilst cvq needs to get j to sleep now she also needs to find a workable method longterm he's a bit of a nightowl!hijack over)

Hell no! you need sleep. You know he's safe and will come to no harm. Have you tried putting him in your bed?

1dilemma · 08/07/2008 00:57

cvq def not neglectful
I'd prob do sofa for me but depends on your pram

avenanap · 08/07/2008 00:58

Not neglectful I mean, not don't do it.

colditz · 08/07/2008 00:58

I wouldn't leave him where you wouldn't hear him choke, but totally understand the temptation.

Seriously, put some music on, it used to work quite often with ds2.

copingvquietly · 08/07/2008 00:59

hes been in my bed and al he wants to do is winge cry and feed.im just far too knackered

MrsMacaroon · 08/07/2008 00:59

how old how old how old?

Candlewax · 08/07/2008 00:59

I took my ds into my bed every night in the end. It was the only way we both got some sleep. He used to sleep for 2 hours only and then wake up crying but, when he was in bed with me, he would settle and we would both get some sleep.

copingvquietly · 08/07/2008 01:00

hes 7 months

1dilemma · 08/07/2008 01:00

Have you tried water?

colditz · 08/07/2008 01:00

feed him now, then you know you can rule it out. He might be hungry at night. If he is seeking sucky comfort, can you just let him get on with it while you doze?

avenanap · 08/07/2008 01:00

Are you bf? How old is he?

Candlewax · 08/07/2008 01:00

Are you breastfeeding? I used to latch him on and then drift off to sleep. In the end I gave him a dummy as it seemed to me that he just like to suck a lot for comfort.

remember cvq it wont go on for ever.
One of mine had dreadful colic howled the place down then just as suddenly stopped.

He will 'grow out of it'

BTW if you're finding everyone chipping in with ideas a bit much just tell us to back off

colditz · 08/07/2008 01:04

I didn't realise he was so old, sorry, and really I meant don't leave him in the pushchair strapped in and go to bed.

I agree then, at his age, put him in his cot and let him get on with it for a bit. You can only do so much.

copingvquietly · 08/07/2008 01:06

i fed him earlier.i cant carry on like this night after night.lastnight i got 2 hrs straight sleep and the rest was broken.
im going to have to sleep downstairs or i just will not cope tomorrow either

You need to take him to the doctors and ask them for some medicine. It's for him to make him sleep. No one will think badly of you. It will help whilst we all think of something else. It's not good for you to have nights of broken sleep. I really think that you should do this. I did it. It did help.
