Is anyone else scared and anxious about these recommendations to stock pile, I just have enough money to feed my kids for the month everyday let alone buying extra, this scares me .. do you think it will happen?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Just ignore, OP. This Government has no idea about anything! Nobody sensible is "stockpiling".

Don’t be ridiculous. The government isn’t scaremongering, they are being honest that supply chains are weak and that people live very differently now and warning them they need to think about being prepared for a 2/3 days IF necessary. Apart from getting abit of water in, the majority of people are already covered.

Other government regularly send out messages like this. Scary stuff like preparing for war….it doesn’t mean anything is imminent. I think there will be worse storms this year and that means electricity outages. Otherwise disaster is possible but not likely and completely outside of our control. So don’t spend time worrrying about that. I’m sure you have enough to worry about that is inside your control.

Just throw in an extra tin a week. We don’t have much storage space so I don’t have much water myself. Here in Ireland we have received the same advice and everyone seems to be largely making jokes about it! So we’re going to be extra screwed

If you live in an area with known weather hazards then you will presuambly know the score and have your own suitable plan in place. For everyone else - we live on a tiny densely populated island, if society goes into meltdown across wide areas for any length of time, feeding your kids will be the least of your concerns!

Live and let live and maybe stick a torch and a few big bottles of water in the cupboard.

Please don't worry! It's handy to have 2/3 days worth of food in case of extreme weather and/or power cuts but you don't need much. Just pop an extra tin of tuna or beans in your weekly shop and buy a couple of bottles of water. Remember even during a pandemic the shops didn't close and we could buy most things.
