Abusive ex how do I keep DD4 safe?

My ex is unstable, he is diagnosed with PTSD, but I am pretty sure it isn't the only issue.

He has never been physically violent towards me or DD, but he has kicked furniture, punched walls, shouted, blamed me, accused me of all sorts and he seems to be getting worse.

I asked him to leave about 4 months ago and he has been seeing DD4 in my home with me there, but she has been left upset and crying after seeing him twice this year already.

Today he demanded I drop her at his, I suggested McDonald's and said DD was upset with the way he was acting and I had planned to talk to him about it tonight. His response was a load of abusive messages and angry voice notes, calling me names, threatening to cut contact totally, saying i was driving him to suicide, telling me to never contact him again.

I've got a locksmith coming tomorrow to change all the locks and improve the security on them, in the meantime I've got the chain on the door.

I played today's messages to her nursery and asked her to only let me pick her up. They said they would call the police if he tried.

What else do I need to do?

Report to police and social services give them both the recorded messages.
Make sure nursery has a recording and ask them to make a safeguarding referral.

You might also want to consider contacting your local domestic abuse charity, for support and advice.

I just got of the phone with his mum, she said he was very agitated, demanded she ring me to tell me to take DD to him.

She said he has been off the weed since Sunday (very heavy user, some on prescription but I think he buys more). I told her he wasn't seeing DD today, she said she knew i was doing what I thought was best.

What would social services do? I don't have anything to hide or anything, but I'm worried it would be interference without much actual help.

Call Social services.
Call your local DV charity- their support is invaluable.
Ring doorbell.
Call the police, take it as far as you can. Don't doubt yourself, his behaviour is not okay and not safe for you or your child.
Do not let him have your child. Let him take you to court.
Threatening suicide is abuse by itself. Never mind everything else that you listed. Your child doesn't need to to be subjected to that, stick to it, don't doubt yourself.
If his mum is reasonable then she can come and see you both together in a safe space, with cctv and witnesses to begin with. Cover yourself.

Does he have PR? The nursery can’t refuse to give your daughter to him but they can delay him.
