What is the best amount of hours to work per week? Term time only or all yr round?

I am looking for some advice.

Took on a new job Sept 24, 36hrs a week. I enjoy it most of the time however from this week I have taken on a friday so no day off and 41hrs a week. I use a childminder. The holidays stress me out and having to work out my holiday is also stressful.

Before this job I was working 30hrs a week term time only. No stress of holidays and what to do with my 10yr old. Less tax and NI.

I feel like I need to find something else as the hours are long and it is stressful.
Does anyone have any advice please?

Work term time only while you need the childcare and then look for something not term time only when they are about 15?

My kids are uni age now and I'm still term time only which is now disadvantageous but I like my colleagues so I'll stick it out till I can retire (early I hope). I'm fed up of paying over the odds for holidays and having to go when it's very busy and full of kids. Or too hot in part of the Med. If my young adult children ends up getting jobs in a different part of the country then I will think about stopping my job. Not being able to go away for the weekend during term time on a Friday lunchtime or coming back on a Monday morning gets annoying after 20 years.

Basically anything which you can use your annual leave allowance for. Cos I don't have one. So the lack of choice is shit.

I just thought now she is 10 that would be better to make the move and work all year round but I think im regretting my choice.

Her Dad only has her every other weekend. I just thought work as many hours as I can to earn more money but it just affects everything, tax, NI, UC, is it really worth the extra stress?

I havent had a holiday abroad for years and not bothered about that but I like to take DD camping a few times a year.

I work 30hrs and not term time. It works well because I can take a couple of days here and there for myself. Even if it’s just for dentist, Christmas shopping or a break! Only thing with term time working is there’s no time for you. But obvs works if you need childcare. I think there’s pros and cons to it all and depends on your personal set up

Yes, I've worked TTO for YEARS. DH worked away a lot when they were young and I really would have liked more time for myself. All my time off work were with the kids, and I know that everyone else who works has to use leave during school holidays but they can also take the odd day or half day here or there if they want. DH and I had hardly any time on our own for years on end whereas the people I know with non TTO jobs could take a day for their wedding anniversary to go out for lunch or to go Christmas shopping without it being mega busy and having to take the kids with you or take turns staying at home with them.

How much more are you earning (net)? Would the extra allow you book 4 weeks unpaid parental leave to accommodate child's non term time.
?

It varies each month but I think £1800 approx. My manager has said she allows people to take the odd day unpaid. I have worked out my holidays I think, I have pages of workings out!
