Lone parenting and the Menopause with school aged children

Soon to be seperating and have two dc - 8 and 13.

Also heading rapidly for the menopause (deep in peri-menopause).

Anyone else had dc later in life or menopause happened earlier than expected and find themselves lone parenting. How do you manage?

I wear HRT patches and this helps but I'm on maximum dose and they don't always absorb well. Patches have helped but run up to period and I am aching and my patience is lowered. Feeling overwhelmed at the prospect today. Fortunately, (but sadly) recent inheritance means I can reduce my work hours.

Anyone?

Yep, same here. I'm a single parent and I started going into peri about 6 years ago. My DC was about 6 then and quite hard work anyway, add on top of that working full time and general stress, my mood was very low and I was finding myself having little patience and being quite snappy. I'm still deep in peri but HRT has helped with my moods quite a bit.
I'm still getting dreadful aches and run down feeling every month before my period. I'm not sure what can help with this.

Thank you for replying. I do find older child much easier though I'm guessing a lot of emotional stuff is going to come my way. Older child is far more independent. I'm guessing it is a case of keeping stress levels down as far as possible so I have more energy for dc. Not yet moved out and I think it is a fear of the unknown and getting into a new routine.

Magnesium spray sometimes helps my aches and pains. Can be a bit sticky going on but I find it does help.
