Coparent taking child out of school early

Hi just looking for some suggestions for the best way to deal with this.
Our child is 5 and we have shared care, so some days I pick up child from school and some days the other parent picks child up.
The problem is that the other parent is sometimes taking our child out of school early so that they can pick up their step children.
This obviously has an impact on our child’s school attendance and disrupts their school day.
I will seek advice from a solicitor, but has anyone here got any advice? Or dealt with a similar situation?

It was weekly during the last school year, but the coparent said it didn’t matter because school wasn’t compulsory before age 5.
the coparent is not a rational person to talk to unfortunately.
Child is taken out roughly 30 mins before school finishes.
Spoke to the school they are also concerned that it is affecting attendance, but have said they can’t stop a parent taking a child out of school and suggested court action.

Ok I’ll assume you were there were you… stop being so sarcastic. I don’t need to justify to you.
I don’t care that you don’t care, but I care about my child, CAFCASS cares, and so does the school.

op is completely justified in being concerned at her child missing 30 mins of school. If is obviously not supporting the child’s educational needs and this is a factor used to assess child arrangements.
the only to stop this is to obtain a court order (maybe a PSO) stating that said parent cannot remove child from school early (possibly without consent of op)

Thank you that is very helpful.
Schools are very concerned about attendance these days and both of the Teachers that my child has had have discussed their concerns with me, so I would like to get ahead of it.
My only worry is the other parent is not easy to work with, so your advice is very helpful ☺️

Maybe speak to the school and see if an arrangement can be made that your child is picked up after the step children.

Personally I would avoid getting a court order if at all possible. Realistically if he decides to continue taking his child out of school early, I'm not sure anyone can really do anything. I mean is he likely to listen to and obey a court order?
Could the child go to after school club? So he can pick the step children up first ?
