Sleeping arrangements

Can I ask how sleeping arrangements work for those of you whose exes have the children overnight and you have at least 3+ children, do they all have a bed each? Discussing the possibility of our children staying at exes overnight but he mentioned he would buy 2 single beds for 4 children 🤔 what are the sleeping arrangements for others in this situation (they are older kids/ teens) only asking for advice for those with more than 2 children
so in a similar situation.

I think it depends how often they are there. A couple of mine share a bed when at their dad's but as this is about 7 nights a year I don't worry too much, if it was a regular arrangement I'd want them to have a bed each. Even a camp bed would be better than trying to share a single bed.

Mine are all under 10 though...Two teens in a single bed... would they even agree to that?!

SonicTheHodgeheg · 29/05/2024 17:13

Is he only planning on having 2 at a time or returning them at the end of the day ?

Most kids will vote with their feet and not return. A judge would allow over 12s (ish) to decide how much contact they had with each parent and no sleeping space would be an understandable decision to say no to overnights.

They are 13 12 10 and 7 and yes they've said they don't want to sleep in a bed with each other so just wondering what else I could suggest.

I want them to stay overnight so just trying to think how it could work as he suggested single beds or bunk beds and no not 2 at a time.

What about inflatable camping mattresses?

mrssunshinexxx · 29/05/2024 20:05

2 sets of bunk beds surely?

MariaLuna · 29/05/2024 20:10

he would buy 2 single beds for 4 children

That would be a refusal from me right there and then.

He obviously hasn't thought it through properly. Tell him it's not on.

wonder how he will cope with feeding them

onefinalhurdle · 29/05/2024 20:17

Amongst many other reasons this is also why I don't allow overnights with my 3 children. Yes my two littlest more often than not get in my bed to sleep with me or each other but they have their own beds too so it's always their choice. They don't have this at their dads and all 3 children would be expected to co sleep and it's just not fair or appropriate

OldSow · 29/05/2024 20:18

2 sets of bunks?

Busbusbusbusbus · 29/05/2024 20:36

No I asked he said bunk beds (one) or two beds.
